He's talking about the Conan from the original books written by Howard. Not the Conan from the comics, the later books written by various fools, and most certainly not the Conan from the movies. If you've never read any of the original Conan stories start with Red Nails. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Nails
It doesn't matter what order you read them in so you might as well start with the best one!
