Restore Stephen Baldwin

Restore Stephen Baldwin from bankruptcy. Here's your fail cause of the day.
dystopianfuturetodaysays...

If we want to be true to scripture, then Stephen Baldwin needs to have all of his family and worldly possessions destroyed by God, and to remain faithful in spite of this. If this happens, I promise to paypal Stephen Baldwin $20.

And here I thought he wasn't getting any more gigs because he's a lousy actor...

So let me get this straight. A guy who earned tens of millions in his lifetime is begging you for money because he was stupid and overspent his means. So you should give him your money instead of say... Homeless people or cancer research?

What a selfish git. This is possibly the most concise explanation of how religion is completely f**ed up in the US.

Oh and shouldn't the title be "I don't want a Job, I just want your money." or some similar play on the name Job?

Which is kind of sad in it's own way. She choose favourites purely on political ideology. Isn't that how bush lost billions of dollars (that simply went missing, nobody knows where) in Iraq, screwed up FEMA (sure his only experience is with a horse club but he stands for the same things we do! Surely that qualifies him!)

Can't some/most Americans see that it's better to select for competence first? Why anyone gives that woman the time of day is beyond me.

I'm with Dyst on this. Have the rest of the family die, make him homeless and destitute, inflict him with several deadly diseases and THEN I will donate 20 bucks to the cause. Besides which, I'm willing to bet there are a few christian missionary's who are actually DOING something (even if they are preaching at the same time) who are more deserving of christian dollars. Getting them to donate to say, cancer or what not is obviously a waste of time.

This needs more upvotes because it's fantastic in 2 possible ways:

If it's legit, Stephen Baldwin needs all teh exposure he can get from this. After all he is broke.

If it's not legit, it's awesome anyway.

Porksandwichsays...

I hope it's a fake/parody/whatever, because if real......I think he'd probably be murdered if this worked out and "restored" him (by restore Im assuming it means make him wealthy). Anytime I see one church who gives aid, food, and other free services to the needy (and the claiming to be needy)..which slowly fails financially because of it. Then see another church with the same views spring up a few blocks down the street in a bigger structure, huge parking area, and what not...then another a little further down..and another... all new. I can only assume this religion thing is a good business to be in, if you preach it but don't practice it.

Got an uncle that's kind of a big deal in the baptist community. He's about as untrustworthy a person can get without looking the part. And another cousin who did some work as a missionary (spread religion, not render aid) in China and the like......another *sarcasm* stand up guy *sarcasm*. While they don't deter me from considering the teachings of any and all religions....they surely show me that organized religion is not a place for those who expect good intentions from the people running the show.

I think I'm with peggedbea on this... I mean, surely any publicity is good publicity for them, even if we're mocking the crap out of it?

Surely they can't look at those photos of him and think 'there goes a man capable of leading other to our way of Christ'.

Personally, I look at those photos and think 'What a douche'.

But that's just me

You know they're Arabs don't you? I doubt god would want you to help them when there are faithful and talented men like Stephen in need.

Is this something that was actually endorsed by Stephen Baldwin or is it some sort of parody/comedy/mind fuck?

Mindfuckin' you is as hard as getting dead rats to travel maze paths with chopsticks ...but s'rsly-Steve Baldwin's best movie role was some high-8 footage from his botched circumcision...

Obviosuly parody, based on douchy photos and over the top production values. I mean there should be pictures of him out there where he isn't pouting or looking hungover right? right?

ryanbennittsays...

Hmm, to a non-Christian, this is definitely a parody. But you can also guarantee that to a Christian, particularly one from the bible belt, this is a call to arms which some would answer.

It's not parody. This video was produced by his production company.

It's a parody done by him. You see, he actually has a sense of humor.

There are some opportunistic christian preachers who are every bit as corny and tactless. So I can get why some people think this is real. . . They do a pretty good job of committing to the premise.

But seriously, just read this page and it should become obvious that it's a joke.

Here's one example, right under the default donation of $4.21

"Some have asked why $4.21? Job 42:10-11 is the model and inspiration for this movement. $4.21 is the lowest possible left to right combination of these scriptures."

Drachen_Jagersays...

Wait a minute... I thought the idea was the people who are rich got that way because god loves them more than poor people (yes, many Americans actually believe this, that's why they don't want to spend money helping poor countries (the ones who would donate are almost certainly subscribers to this whacked out philosophy)). If Stephen Baldwin is now poor doesn't that mean either:

A) God doesn't like him very much.

or

B) The theory is wrong.

Perhaps (maybe... though not really)

C) He IS being tested a la Job. In which case giving him money ruins the test and God's going to be pissed at you for donating.

Xaxsays...

If this is a hoax, bravo. If Stephen Baldwin is behind the hoax, the impossible will happen and my respect for him will miraculously increase. Horrifically, I don't think this is a hoax, and this just blows my mind.

nanrodsays...

If you think its a joke then try donating. If its just a parody then the links to donate won't work. Or try phoning the large donation phone number which gives you the Dan Southern Leadership Group in Texas, whose website is selling Stephen Baldwin books. I don't think its an intentional parody but it's certainly an unintentional one.

Holy shit nanrod, I think you're right. I actually did try the larger donations number a couple days ago, it was disconnected and I took that as another sign this is a parody. They've since replaced it with a mailing address. And going as far as I can with bullshit donation info shows a credit card payment system that appears to work. Jesus Christ.

It's not a parody, have a look at the company that made the website, they have a whole section on 'faith based' sites they've done. They wouldn't want to piss off their religious money spinners buy taking the piss.

This is true, and terrible.

I've just seen the last South Park (14x07) and I have to *promote this. They mentioned this site at the end of the episode.

http://entertainment.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978204240
Taking a serious interest in Steven Baldwin, tonight's ending to South Park was a reference to help 'towels everywhere. Which lead to this very interesting website that perhaps is one of the strangest ever: http://www.restorestephenbaldwin.org/

This really makes me think it's a parody.

Poe's Law indeed.
