Residents of Vladivostok are buried in snow

Published on Dec 16, 2014

During the night the streets of the city became almost impassable due to the snowfalls.

Heavy snowfall that hit the capital of Primorye broke the rhythm of city life, and complicates traffic on the motorways. Utilities are unable to cope with the traffic jams and large quantities of snow.

According to the mayor's office in Vladivostok, 158 snow cleaning units took to the streets. Despite the bad weather, schools and kindergartens of the city are running as usual, although parents can decide whether or not to send their children to school.

Heads of municipal enterprises and organisations are also recommended to set a shorter working day. According to weather forecasts, snow will continue tomorrow.
