Rare Vintage Footage: Mountain Lion Attacks Deer

From YouTube: "This vintage footage comes from the California Department of Fish and Game archives. It shows a rare encounter between a mountain lion and mule deer."

A not very impressive spike muley and a large mature cat squaring off. This is surprising in outcome. These cats are quite capable of vertical jumps of 15 feet and bound 40 feet running. Large fully developed deer are part if their main diet. The have evolved such that their canines are spaced to coincide with that of deer vertebrae.
