robbersdog49says...An american flag, surely?
EvilDeathBeesays...I was all set to watch some QI... then the clip finished and I got sad
deathcowsays...Hold your hand at farthest out. Look at your thumb like a painter. The moon appears about 1/4 the size of your thumbs width.
The Earth would be about 1 thumb wide. I cant imagine spotting the wall.
reiwansays...What about lights on the night side?
deathcowsays...But those photons aren't man made.

What about lights on the night side?
Maybe if you are in the shadow of the earth on a crescent moon, and the sun is directly behind the earth....but even then, the sun would STILL most likely wash out the meagre light produced by street lamps and buildings.
rychansays...I bet you could see an above ground nuclear detonation from the moon.

Neither are the photons reflecting off of the Great Wall. So, by your logic, nothing man-made can be seen from any distance.

jimnmssays...I guessed the LRO because he didn't ask what man made artifacts on Earth can be seen from the moon.
gharksays...The Large Hardon Collider is easily visible from the moon.
nanrodsays...You are joking, of course. The LHC from the moon would have the apparent diameter of half of a human hair held at arm's length. Also, it's underground with very little surface presence.

nanrodsays...My bad, more proof that the human brain sees what it expects to see.
