Police Officer Shoots Motorcyclist In The Back

Evidently, you're not allowed to turn around to look at cops anymore.
enochsays...

was the officer justified?
uh....no.
even when you take in all the factors.
what could possibly be the deciding one?
1.the man was riding a harley so therefore must be in a biker gang.possibly the "outlaws"?
2.the man was physically imposing and he wore a threatening and scary bandana.
3.before i pulled the young man over he had gone really really fast and his motorbike made loud noises which frightened me.
i mean really..WHAT was going through this cops mind at that time.

so as we watch this officer attempt to evade any responsibility let us be frank..and clear.
my opinion may be based on little or no information and just by what i have seen here..
let me add my two cents anyways.
this cop over-reacted.
he did the same thing i am doing here...assumed much on little or no evidence and he reacted..poorly.
what i find most offensive is the weaseling.
weasel out of accepting the fact you made a poor snap judgment and a young mans life is transformed forever.
weasel out of accepting responsibility for your snap judgment which will most likely manifest in the form of denigrating the young man.a common tactic to discredit the victim in order to avoid any responsibility.
this..in my opinion is the weakest and lowest of all human behavior.
stand up and be a man.admit to the family that you made a mistake and you are sorry and will do whatever is in your ability to make it right.
accept the responsibility you fucking snivel nosed coward.

Notice how the douchebag lawyer tries to make it look like the biker was reaching for a gun. Pulling his jacket back arm at 90 degree angle like he's reaching. While in the video the biker's arm is clearly straight down at his side in no way making any motion of reaching for a gun. Disgusting.

I would be more understanding of these situations that are happening all over America if possibly cops were also getting killed all over America. I just don't hear about it nearly as much so it can't be that they're under an amazing amount of threats that they're just humans reacting to it. They're reacting to something else and it's getting people killed and needs to be addressed...not one officer at a time but nationwide.

What an asshole cop...

First of all, I'm pretty sure police training is not, if you fear for your life cause he has a gun, FIRE ONCE. He should be convicted for only firing one shot.

Secondly, I dare you to go ahead and pretend you are on a motorcycle where your hips can't really move. Now take your right hand and try to shoot behind you with your "gun". Even if you could aim, it is impossible to shoot the officer turning that direction.

You would lean to your right if you were going to shoot.

Also, you are on a fucking bike, if he wanted to get away he would just drive his bike, no cop car could catch up.

VoodooVsays...

Well, on one hand, it's easy to look at this in hindsight and convict the guy. I don't pretend to know what it's like to be a cop, nor can I say I would have done better were I in his situation. But then again, THAT'S WHY I'M NOT A COP!!

But what pisses me off is how the lawyer and the cop talk about how he was moving his hands around, which led to him thinking he had a gun and firing. Watch the damn video. He moves his hand once after the cop catches up to him, but many seconds pass and the kid's arm does NOT move again prior to getting shot.

The cops are supposed to be the good guys. To be a good guy, that means you don't fucking fire unless you're 100 percent positive there is a weapon and the intent to use it. And yes, I know, that in the real world, you can't always be 100 percent sure. But that's what separates the good guys from everyone else. The good guy would rather die himself than to shoot an innocent, so yes, that does mean that good guys lose sometimes. But that's the price you pay for having the right to have a badge and to carry a weapon capable of ending lives. The reward is that you've saved and protected lives and shit like this doesn't happen.

This is one example I can see where the cop is clearly and completely 100% in the wrong. He should have an example made of him. Even if he was convicted (which he wont be) (seems he was), he would only serve 11 years, a slap on the wrist compared to what he deserves.

KnivesOutsays...

I'm 100% sure he fucked up and accidentally shot the guy. It was a mistake. He wasn't following procedure, and he fucked up.

That said, I'm glad they convicted him. He should have plead guilty and begged for mercy (after voluntarily resigning from the force.) Trying to paint this as a justified shooting is just as heinous as the original mistake.

It's not as if he dropped his gun on the ground and it went off. Besides, the defense didn't claim it was an accident. They claimed it was intentional, but that the cop mistakenly believed he was pulling a gun.

I'm just grateful they had the dash cam. Perhaps cops should be fitted with cameras at all times to keep them from lying about shit and covering for each other.

chilaxesays...

Traffic cops are surely used to that... motorists move their hands around all the time during traffic stops while the cop is walking up. They get their documents from the glovebox, they look in their pockets for their wallet, etc.

It's in your own best interest to keep your hands on the steering wheel to make sure the cop doesn't view you as a potential threat.

KnivesOutsays...

Here's what I bet happened:
Mistake #1: unholstering his weapon for what amounts to a traffic stop
Mistake #2: doing so with finger inside trigger guard
Mistake #3: flinching>> ^entr0py:

Ok, so now that we all know who the cop haters are... I'll step my foot on a few throats.

The cop was totaly justified. 2 bikers know they are being tailed and agree to hightail it and try and lose him. Why, we don't know, but at this point they are committing vehicle negligence. As we see soon after, one of them loses control and runs off the road, but what if he ran into something? Or caused someone to vear off and run into an object causing harm or death? Driving out of control on a bike is no more a laughing matter then driving out of control in a car.

So the other buddy knows they got busted and stops his bike and sits there looking like the stupid red neck he is. Allready he has forgotten what cops do to CRIMINALS when apprehended. PUT YOUR F*#$ING HANDS UP! And get off that damn bike. He did neither, and when the cop actually had to tell his ass, he turns around with his hands near his pockets. Even if he didn't have a gun I would have shot him for being to damn stupid!

I have a bone to pick with this video..

but surprisingly, not with the cop, but rather some of the comments.

People around the sift know me, If there's reasonable doubt or an actual potential explination, I'll generally take the police officers side.

This is not one of those times.

"Another video of a PIG unjustifiably using too much force? What a fucking surprise!"

in a nutshell, this is what I have a problem with.

This man is not 100% of the police force. He's a clearly a dumbass, and doesn't deserve his badge, but just because there are some bad apples in a group, doesn't mean you need to hate all of them.

This is getting to the point where it's almost racism. Some of them are idiots. The same can be said about any race. Some of them are gun-toting morons. The same can be said about people of every race. Some of them abuse their power. The same can be said about any race, or sometimes nationality.

You don't hate the entire white race because of people like Timothy Mcveigh, or Black people because of John Allen Muhammad, you hate the individual.

Maybe it's because I come from outside the united states, or maybe it's because my dad is a cop and I've grown up around them all my life, but most of these people are just like you or me. They do their job to the best of their extent, and almost all of them enjoy the fact that they're helping the community with what they do and would NEVER do something stupid like the people shown in most of the internet videos you see.

However.. you DON'T see the videos of those people. The ones who do their jobs well. Worked their entire career without incident, and the people like that deserve better then hatred for something they've never done.. Again, don't hate an entire group of something.. just because a few of them are idiots.

OBVIOUSLY we don't have to hate all of them. This is posted to show what idiots some of them are are, as you seem to admit in your comment. I agree that the "bad apple," can make the group look bad. The group often knows who these bad apples are and says nothing until it is too late and the are forced to do so. This is what makes the whole group seem like, "bad apples," due to their supposed brotherhood. This is a disservice to them all.

Whoever shot that biker is a paranoid psychopath, or at best, insane in my book.

gorillamansays...

Fine, let's just agree every cop is individually a fascist piece of shit, and to hate their individual guts.

Hating all cops isn't like hating all black people, it's like hating all rapists. They're all criminals, they all joined the same gang for the same reason.>> ^Shepppard:
