Police Officer Protecting and Serving the Shit Out Of You!

KOB Eyewitness News 4 has obtained the video of a San Juan County sheriff’s deputy beating 22-year-old male multiple times with his flashlight.

The incident took place between Officer Dale Frazier and Donovan Tanner around midnight on St. Patrick’s Day this year. According to police, a commotion broke out at bar and police saw Tanner and another man walking away and approached the two.

In the following confusion, the deputy’s dashcam video shows the officer hitting Tanner at least five times with his flashlight. Deputy Frazier later said that Tanner had grabbed his flashlight with the attempt to disarm him.

Arlon Stoker is Tanner’s attorney and said they have filed a claim to demand an internal investigation. “My client hadn’t done anything wrong, didn’t commit any crime and was viciously attacked by a deputy for reasons which are inexplicable,” said Stoker.

Originally, Tanner was charged with disarming a peace officer. “After reviewing the video, we determined it was appropriate to dismiss the charges,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney, Dustin O’Brien.

San Juan County Sheriff’s officials told us they opened the investigation on March 30th and Deputy Frazier is now on paid administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing. [/copblock.org]
