Xaxsays...Pretty amazing, although I don't know what kind of depraved sadist would want to play a modern PC/console game on an iPad.
EmptyFriendsays...There's just no way I could trust any high speed internet connection I've ever had to stream a full screen hi-res video without considerable stutter and/or lag. Cool idea though, and I'm sure it does work if you have an awesome connection.
LarsaruSsays...@TickTock You could add this to the engineering, videogames, talks and maybe some other channel imo.
Also great sift!
gwiz665says...I gotta say, I had a lot of doubts, but this seems pretty fucking cool!
I think there'll still be problems with control-lag, but I'll be happy to be wrong.

siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Engineering, Future, Geek, Talks, Videogames) - requested by gwiz665.
Raaaghsays...Dude sounds like Charlie from Its always sunny in Philadelphia
Timely sift, nice one OP
Kevlarsays...Awesome, awesome stuff. I was beginning to think this was vaporware or was going to be horribly lagged. Just why in the hell are the controls above the game screen, though?
teebeenzsays...Onlive is a joke. Plain and simple.
Fadesays...I love how divisive onlive is. You get 3 types of comments on it.
AWESOME SAUCE
I'm not sure but it could rock
and
TOTAL BULLSHIT, IMPOSSIBLE.
Just remember 5 years ago nobody thought cloud computing had any hope...look where we are now
teebeenzsays...OnLives whole concept is: Why buy a gaming pc, when you can buy us a gaming pc instead, then we'll send you video of your games since we're holding them essentially hostage, which you can then watch.... on the 2nd PC you'll buy anyway.

OnLive is set to launch now, though. They can't wait another 5 years for everyone to have fiber optics to the home in order to provide a reasonable input lag for everyone. 50ms-200ms client<-->server lag can be playable in some games if they use good prediction but it's entirely different when it takes that long for the game to even know you pressed a button.
I also recently discovered that you will be required to pay a subscription to the service and still pay full price for the individual games. That greatly lowers their value, IMO.
