Oliver Stone & Tariq Ali -- The untold history of the US

Moderator: Srećko Horvat

Tariq Ali received a phone call from Paraguay four years ago. It was Oliver Stone calling. He was just reading his book Pirates of the Caribbean about Latin America. Afterwards, they met in Los Angeles and started initial talks about the documentary series Untold History of the United States. Nevertheless, the political situation changed and they started working on the film South of the Border, which premièred at the Venice Film Festival in 2009. Now they are back with a much more elaborate project, which Stone describes as "the most ambitious thing I ever did" and which already received accolades all over the world for revealing the not so famous details about the U.S., covering both the 20th and 21st century. Join this dialogue about the "dark side" of the United States, beginning with its role in the Second World War and the intervention in Vietnam, ending with the recent presidencies of Bush and Obama.
