Hey, why doesn't Obama just make a law where you have to vote 'yes' for his health care reform, or like, go to jail or something? It would make it so much easier...

Our system is so screwed up that only radical changes can begin to remedy it's problems. The current system is too focussed on profit margins than on care for their customers. Until profit is taken out of the equation, our system will continue to be broken, regardless of any government programs.

Your health care used to work fine 50 years ago. If you think profit is ever out of the equation you're deluded. Even if the government is paying for things people are still making money and the government only gets money from you. So just making government do it doesn't mean it will work.

Government run health care can go just as wrong as what you currently have. If you guys are willing to bail on capitalism right now because of corruption (I don't blame you all for your feelings on it) then if you do institute Government run health care for everyone you still have to be just as vigilant in making sure it does what you want it to do.

If you get lazy and let the politicians make all these decisions or take an "Obama knows best" attitude you may be disappointed in what you actually get.

You could also fix the current system. It's not impossible. Equally as radical.

I do agree that the only way Obama is going to get what HE wants (single payer system) is by force. That's because the American people don't want the bull he's slinging and they are rejecting it. Everyone who even gives the the House bill a cursory examination rapidly concludes that it's a pile of steaming crap. The bill under debate has NOTHING to do with the platitudes and fantasy stories Obama is spewing out his pie-hole.

So go ahead. Force it. Do it and prepare for 1994-squared in 2010. Obama would be a fool to take this path. That's the same kind of idiocy and out-of-touch-with-the-electorate elitism that devastated the Bush presidency. It would annihilate Democrat party in the house & senate, and turn Obama into a single election president who was a lame duck for 50% of his term.
