She has to drink out of a styrofoam cup because the ritual out of drinking out of a glass causes her to chip teeth.

That's nothing. I once had a client who would consistently and obsessively wash her hands until they bled.

That's hard to see.

The frustrating part of OCD is that the client as well as the professional working with them know that they are irrational obsessions (heck, we all have an irrational obsession or two), it's the compulsion that's gut-wrenching to watch. It's even harder when the client is fully aware of the problem and wants to stop, but can't.
