Leader of the Norwegian Nobel Committee Thorbjørn Jagland announces what is predicted to be a diplomatically challenging award on the 8th of October 2010.

Liu Xiaobo has long fought for human rights in China and is one of the primary authors of Charter 08, a proposed new democratic constitution for China, for which he has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
