NMA: iPad 2 in the works; tablets take over America

"Reports suggest Apple is working on a second version of its iPad. The updated device would include a camera for video conferencing and better memory and graphics.

The tablet industry is evolving everyday. Motorola will soon release the Xoom, which will run the Android operating system. Content is evolving too; Rupert Murdoch recently launched The Daily, the first iPad-only newspaper.

But what are these new devices costing our culture? Many people are trading real world experiences

The cost is literal, too. An 8-year-old Maryland girl racked up a $1400 iTunes bill playing the game Smurfs' Village on her mom's iPad. Such is the consequence when parents use gadgets as babysitters.

The technology is being overly-embraced by teachers as well, as Georgia is looking into providing each student in the state with an iPad. Many fear how constant exposure to personal media will affect our children.

Even so, tablet technology is here to stay. Is this just the next step in human evolution?"
