More Turmoil for Pakistan - Benazir Bhutto Assassinated

Dec. 27th 2007- Benazir Bhutto (whom the U.S. had hoped would enter into a power-sharing agreement with Musharraf and end the current military rule/election crisis in Pakistan) was assassinated after a rally of her supporters by a suicide bomber who, leaving nothing to chance, shot her in the head before blowing himself up. The Pakistani government asserts that the assassination was carried out by al-Qaeda/Muslim extremists, but the leaders of al-Qaeda in Pakistan have denied complicity, suggesting that something more is actually going on.
