Largest Urban Bat Population in the World Takes Flight

This is one of those sites, if I am ever lucky enough to move to Austin, that I hope to see. The worlds largest urban bat population taking flight from the Congress Avenue Bridge. There are more bats under this bridge than people in the city of Austin itself. They eat around 10 to 20,000 pounds of insects. The flight attracts over 100,000 people to Austin and generates millions in tourism revenue for local businesses.

LOL. Fixed both. This is what happens when you post things when you should take advantage of the fact the kids are asleep and should go to sleep yourself... or meet a stranger in the Alps... I can't recall which.

"then people of the city of Texas." nice that would be a state. unless they are referring to Austin...

Sweet sift! I just went to Austin for the annual ACA Bat Cruise that the organization holds on that exact river boat. It's pretty crazy seeing that many bats flying over head.

A word to the wise though, if you're on a boat like that when the bats come out, make sure you have an umbrella with you otherwise you'll end up with bat poop in your hair like I did. Effing gross!
