Juggling hammers while driving a nail in the ceiling

Juggling hammers while driving a nail. The nail is in the ceiling.

Seems to me that the nail is driven in WAY to easily. Also the Hammers trajectory (or at least the way they fall) doesn't seem to be altered by them hitting the nail. Perhaps, the nail was already driven in or a hole was drilled first so that the drive would be easier. The hammers also don't seem to strike the nail squarely enough for it to be driven in as easily as it is.

I second the comment that it's probably in a pre-drilled hole. It goes way too straight and the nails are not deflected enough. Also, as anyone whose done carpentry knows, the angel at which the head of the hammer hits the nail determines where it goes . . . and this nail doesn't believe in that. So I say pre-drilled hole, but everything else is real. The wood is pretty soft too.

having been on videosift for a while, my experience suggests that some careful googling will reveal that this is, infact, a clever viral ad campaign for that particular type of hammer.

I think it's real.

My theory:
The wood is much thinner than the length of the nail, and the nail was poking through the other side from the beginning. Hence the low resistance and the straightness of the penetration.

I had my girlfriend translate for me. Apparently, he operates some kind of machinery for work, and works with those OBI hammers pretty often. He's just kinda explaining what he's going to do. And hopes he doesn't hit himself in the head. The fact that the brand name for the hammer is on the orange pail suggests to me that it is indeed a fake, but a viral ad.

Tandrielsays...

OBI is a large hardware store chain in Germany, and I very much suspect that it's a viral ad because at the moment they are advertising the "Hammer Fall" (the German "hammer" can also be used in the sense of "awesome", "dazzling" or also "special").

Hohoho, i bring you the solution:

Just showed it to my girlfriend (who works in online / viral marketing). She says its a among marketing people well known viral for Obi DIY-stores.

btw their dialect is called "hessisch" if anyone is interested ;-) it's pretty funny to hear. ...that's if you understand german at all of course :-)
