This has a great message, but by the gods does it seem fake.

Protect yourself by having a will, too. Gay or straight, if you aren't married and you are that financially entangled, get a will.

If you are married with children, figure out who you want to take care of them and put it in writing.

I'm a firm supporter of gay rights. But you don't have to wait for the government to take care of you in all things. Take care of yourself. Gay or straight.

Also, durable Power of Attorney (Medical and Financial) would be a very good thing to have.
