Hypnotic Stop-Motion Video Featuring A High School

YouTube Description:

A giant human and architectural performance realized by NOTsoNOISY Guillaume Reymond and Trivial Mass Production. The 11 floors tower of the HESAV (Health High School Vaud) has been animated as a rudimentary screen whose pixels are, in fact, all the windows and shutters that students, staff and friends shake for hours. This project announces the celebration "HESAV fait ses 400 coups!" from 1rst to 8th of November 2012

This is really neat, but it's sort of a roundabout way of doing it, personally i would just have taken pictures of all possible positions once and then animated it in a computer with a custom program or some clever editing.

Looks computer animated to me (not stop motion). How come the sky never changes and the shadows don't move? I would think something like this (done via stop motion) would have taken hours and hours and you would have seen the sun moving (and the clouds).
