How to teach your daughter the laws of physics

Well she only has to catch her head on the side of something solid and it's game over. It feels a bit churlish to say that as I'm against wrapping up kids in cotton wool but you have to be a bit careful out there.

You're all wrong. People seem to have forgotten how resilient kids are physically. She didn't hit her head (so whether she could have is beside the point) and if she did, I seriously doubt it would have done much damage. Hell, I fell off the top bunk of a set of bunk beds and landed on my head when I was little and look at me now.

This was a video of FUN, nothing more.

Is this from the Michael Jackson school of parenting?

Ah to me the best parents are ones that will do crazy stuff like that with their kids. Today's parents are pussies, they carry their baby around in a giant carseat instead of their arms. They build plastic junglejims and if a child gets a bloody nose they rush them to the hopsital.

Man when I was a kid I used to stand in the back seat of the family car and wrestle with my brother while everyone drove at 80 mph. In one truck I remember my father-in-law would put us all in the back and while driving down the road he'd sway the truck quickly so we'd be bounced and fly around. He never went very fast doing that but today if parents did that they'd be hauled in and have their kids taken away.

I feel sorry for any kids of the last ten or fifteen years, they are just so very sheltered generally. And the ones that aren't sheltered have parents that don't give two shits about them. I find a family that really plays with their children and lets them get into rough spots so they can learn from their own mistakes are far and few between these days.

As a parent of a young child, I agree. This wasn't THAT dangerous. Even if she hit her head on something it's not the end of the world. Regardless of how hard you try, kids are going to get knocked around.

Sorry the votes win, I'm the fastest.

All of those saying this isn't dangerous... BAH.

I was on our trampoline with our three boys (the trampoline is a round one with netting around the sides). We were bouncing around and I was jumping down to bounce the kids up much like this.

Well... I did it once and saw my 4 year old fly up horizontally (he must have been lying on it at the time) and as he came down he put his arm out to stop himself... and then screamed. His forearm was no longer straight, I instantly knew I'd broken his arm.

So, yeah a visit to the ER, being knocked out on hallucinogens while the doctor audibly snapped the bone back into alignment, and a cast for 6 weeks.

I'm not allowed on the trampoline with the kids anymore.

Yes, I absolutely am not for cotton wooling our kids, let them climb trees, let them wrestle, let them do rough and tumble stuff. But that doesn't mean just ignoring common sense and watching out for dangerous situations at all.
