Murun was a cartoon from my childhood. I remember it being strange and melancholy, but watching it now I can't even begin to imagine the planning meeting/sales pitch for this series. It ran for six years and they made 52 episodes.

It feels so much like a parody, an apocryphal tale of woe which goes against all the jolly happiness normally associated with kids TV. I can only guess they decided that kids should grow up being quite so happy and gave us a dose of Murun to keep a lid on things!
