Father home from Iraq surprises daughters by hiding in box

Slightly late for Christmas, but I guess - aw - it's on gift that's not being returned today. By the recipients, anyway. :p

Super sweet. If this doesn't hit top 15, then you have no love of boxes. Or families.

If you want to skip to the "opening" fast forward the cursor to the area over the "e" in "embed". This is really heart-warming. And the way he says in his gruff voice, 'I know'. Real sweet.

Far cry from the welcome home Viet Nam Vets got, eh?? Although, media tactics are more polished these days-It has a lot to do with the audacious actions of the *MIC....the veil is being lifted from the eyes of sheeple, who I wish were a bit more motivated t'wards changing the game than playing it anymore.....

*military industrial complex

and while we're at it....Try going a month w/o buying anything from China, now that your Xmas cheer has been served yet another year, courtesy of 13 yr old Chinese girls, working overtime.....perhaps we can adjust the Santa story a bit, to include those hard-working elves.....

Can we ban someone from posting here? Or at least have an ignore feature so we never ever have to read "bs" from choggie again?

What a total "bad-person" to come into this sweet little video an spew his utter "bs".

Darn you choggie....please slip on something spilled and get an "ouchie"

(there, all the bad, nasty words taken out....oh, also, was giving my opinion too all you bad people. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for sticking up for this guy...especially swampgirl. Thought you were better than that. Guess not).

garshsays...

choggie doesn't bother me. I find his posts strange or funny, but not ban-worthy.

What really bothers me are people who can't resist posting expletives as a followup comment to an otherwise kid-friendly posting. Can we ban Goofball_Jones instead?

It is a sweet video and as for 13 year olds working overtime... If she wasn't there making the gifts for us in the factory, she would probably have been starving at home trying to tend to a tiny patch of farm land her family has... What's the difference working overtime at home in the fields and working overtime in the factory? They at least get a bit more money, and don't forget they choose to work there.

The US for example has luckily been past that stage where its children worked in those conditions, and China is getting there. You think stopping from buying from China would help?

Kruposays...

Well while we're completely off-topic of the vid, some would argue that working in the fields can be way more pleasant and even sustainable, given no barriers to trade to allow farmers in poorer countries a chance to survive. Creation of huge subsidies against trade makes it harder on farmers, and various other macroeconomic factors can further harrow their lot in life, compelling them to go to factories.

Going back to the video, I'm v. pleased to see it up on the top 15 as predicted.

Jeez Louise, my drift was heart-felt, this is a great homecoming, folks-funny how the folks that cringe the most when I muse, usually project what they think the groups of words mean, and add that to the bashbox-

goofball_jones, we've discussed some things before, "utter BS", translated, is an inability to process-

KOMMIE, yer harmless gremlin persona, has me chapped. Toast??? If you had a choice between dirt foi gras and a dirt sandwhich, which would you prefer, and why does the farmer have such a small piece of land??

Why use this post to call out gballjones and KOMMIE? Pick one better to do it on, the vibes the same where ever you may go-since they so lovingly shat upon this one, perhaps one could leave no better a thread, for reference sake.

Aww c'mon. I friggin hate heart-warming christmas cheery BS stories with a EFFIN passion....What about those other kids with daddies in Iraq who didn't come home yet? Or were KIA?

Life is bleak and miserable!!!!!!! This sift portrays the wrong image of life as sunshine and farts. And completely ignores it's dark side. And this little feat portrays unrealistic standards in human living!!!!!!!!!

Go Die in a FIRE YOU BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!

I'm trying to find reasons not to conform to the masses by upvoting this Viva le K0mmie!

Kruposays...

Yeah, it's the #1 "related vid" below.

Heh, random SiftTrivia - this is a couple of votes away from dislodging my 5th all-time highest 'vote-getter'. (Ironically, a Zero Punctuation review of an ultra-violent game). It would actually be there already if not for the two spurious downvotes.

Not that it's about the votes. Except when it is, I guess.

I am stealing this from 1stTube because I fail to see how this is related to TV programming other than it is a news broadcast.... sorry arvana.

I wonder about the wisdom of turning a private homecoming into a media event. It doesn't seem fair to the kids to turn them into a public spectacle in front of their friends and the world. If he's been home long enough to arrange this elaborate surprise, then why didn't he just skip it and see his family that much sooner?

Kruposays...

Plus, maybe he returned on the morning of a school day, so it was essentially an equal amount of time.

Besides, the emotional cost of waiting 5-24 hours is <<<<< the emotional super-joy happy memory of opening a present and finding that it's actually daddy - having your friends there cheering on adds to the emotional kick-assness.
Damnit, this is the sweetest video I've ever sifted up.
