FDR: WARNING ABOUT TODAY'S REPUBLICANS

Hello 2011....this is 1936 calling.
packosays...

are you referring to your current debt? because isn't that MOSTLY created by all the wars you are fighting? and please don't mix up the yearly budget as opposed to what Clinton left Bush Jr. to what he left Obama... (and not putting the wars on the books like Bush Jr. did don't count)

truth-is-the-nemesissays...

disturbing how little has changed since then...and why it keeps working?.

if FDR was running now i'd vote for him immediately, you are dearly missed FDR and the revolution you didn't see happen we gave in to your greedy inner desires and paid the price.

heathensays...

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible, and they are stupid."

- Dwight D Eisenhower 8 November 1954

Ok - you stay off our roads, out of our libraries and promise never to call the fire department then we'll talk.>> ^blankfist:
Sounds great. Just don't steal my money to fund it.

Let's see. Pretty sure roads are paid for by a gasoline excise tax, who the hell goes to libraries now that we have the internet and book stores, and last I checked the fire department is paid for by local taxes not Federal.

I want to pay for services, just want to pick those services. Roads, security and fire? I'd pay for those voluntarily. Social security? Not so much.

Noone ever should be "round up" and "go up in flames." Think before you write something. Don't call someone names except when the person is a Nazi fuckhead like Pprt. Which blankfist is clearly not.

Re-read your own comment and answer your own question you posed.

Factually incorrect? Tell this guy:

"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong … somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. … I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started...And an enormous debt to boot!"

--Henry Morgenthau, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury during the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt

If the revisionist history of the left was accurate, the Golfer-in-Chief could reproduce the results of FDR's "success".

FDR's policies prolonged Depression by 7 years, UCLA economists calculate

"High wages and high prices in an economic slump run contrary to everything we know about market forces in economic downturns," Ohanian said. "As we've seen in the past several years, salaries and prices fall when unemployment is high. By artificially inflating both, the New Deal policies short-circuited the market's self-correcting forces."

>> ^JiggaJonson:

>> ^quantumushroom:
Ah FDR, that delightful 'benevolent' fascist whose policies prolonged the Depression and whose ass was saved by WW2.

That was as retarded as it was factually incorrect.

An now its becoming time to pay the piper and they still demand to keep on spending.

The Democrats wanted to increase the debt ceiling to keep from having our credit rating lowered. So the Republicans caved ( like fools) and we were downgraded. So now the democrats blame those TEA PARTY for down grade. Such ignorant fools.

This just in: You pay back debt by HAVING a middle class, not by taxing the poor, and giving tax cuts to the rich and corporations so that they can create more MINIMUM wage jobs for the poor.

C) complain that the government is "stealing" your money and slowly devolve into a Bachmanesque ideologue who can't be taken seriously.>> ^blankfist:

I strongly disagree with billpayer's original comment, but now I'm not able to change my vote.

Wow looks like being mocked by FDR really pisses people off. I mean he did a pretty good impression of modern day republicans so I can see why it might hurt your feelings, nobody wants to think their party hasn't progressed at all in over 70 years.

I did laugh when someone called Dag a dickhead, and then claimed he is working on self-important bullshit while commenting on his website. Even if it was sarcasm that's pretty good irony. By the way I like the sarcasm button haha.

See? It's shit like this. Anyone want to help him out here? Or should we just act like a bunch of direpickles instead?

I'll start. First, @ldeadeyesl, I'm not a Republican. I'm a transitional anarchist. Nice to meet you. Second, the "dickhead" comment was a straight copy-and-paste from another comment on this thread attacking yours truly. I was guessing dag didn't read the original comment either. That's probably because none of you read the entire thread before commenting. Understandable. I don't always either.

Lastly, and most importantly, some have been banned or temp-banned or even hobbled for a lot less than the "dickhead" comment. But it all has to do with popularity on this site. Just ask Siftler.

I think you'd like all moderation on this site to be done based on popularity - it fits in nicely with an underdog persecution outlook. I gave the poster you are referring to an official warning over 14 hours ago - as soon as I noticed it. Calling someone a dickhead in all seriousness is not acceptable - no matter who posts it. I know you'd like things to be different, it would fit your outlook better - but that's the way it is. You're welcome to dredge up old examples of bias - they're probably out there - I'm human, but fairness is what I strive for. >> ^blankfist:

You're right. It must have. Check etymology.com:

1922, originally used in English 1920 in its Italian form (see fascist). Applied to similar groups in Germany from 1923; applied to everyone since the rise of the Internet.

A form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation or victimhood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion. [Robert O. Paxton, "The Anatomy of Fascism," 2004]

AND

1921, from It. partito nazionale fascista, the anti-communist political movement organized 1919 under Benito Mussolini (1883-1945)

Oh wait, no. No, you're not right actually. That's still the definition we have today.

Man, the red on FDR's face when he, himself a fascist, declared war on his fellow fascist, Benito Mussolini! Oh, how embarrassing!

Unless, of course, your definition is simply a pejorative to put down another person through the use of redefining words as if the English language is your idle playthings like so many of your other comments times before.

Get your facts straight before you press your fingers on that thing you call a keyboard.

You're just saying that because you America-hating liberals have it in for those patriotic Americans who're fighting to restore traditional values, while wearing replica 18th century tri-corn hats, who just want to take their country back from those socialists who want to tax the rich and regulate corporations, even if it means the tree of liberty has to be watered with the blood of patriots and tyrants via 2nd amendment remedies.

Next you'll probably call 'em racist, too.
