"Leidenfrost" does sound like a good name for some sort of Middle Earthian battle horn or something, so if you hold the skinny end and scoop the lava out, it COULD work.

Heck, if Legolas can use a shield as a skateboard...

Makes me wonder where in the hell all that lava decided to go... It DID go somewhere in a VERY large volume. Anybody seen any news that said where it emptied or broke out at (the other option is that it in fact emptied into a "lava system" that most likely already existed and it's just sitting there making a pathway out OR trapped and cooling off, meaning the "lake" will be back...)?

I used to watch lava from Kilauea drain into the ocean near my house. It was pretty amazing, but you had to stay away from the steam because it was toxic. Pro tip; don't walk on lava rocks with your sandals.
