Escobar: Paradise Lost -- Trailer

Playing notorious criminals is always a risky business, but if you can pull it off, you're pretty much untouchable. Mostly because it makes you look like a massive hardman.

It seems like a breeze for Benicio Del Toro, however, who plays legendary coke trafficker Pablo Escobar in Escobar: Paradise Lost.

The film takes an unusual perspective on the oft-told tale of Escobar's rise to domination of the Colombian drug trade, beginning with an unexpectedly cutesy story of a surfer called Nick (Josh Hutcherson) who falls for Escobar's niece Maria (Claudia Traisac):

Young surfer Nick thinks all his dreams have come true when he goes to visit his brother in Columbia. Against an idyllic backdrop of blue lagoons and white beaches he falls madly in love with a beautiful Colombian girl called Maria. It all seems perfect until he meets her uncle, one Pablo Escobar.
Cue intense scenes as Escobar tries to recruit the mild-mannered Nick to his operation, leading to a whole lot of messed up family ties, blood and thick accents.
