Doctor Refuses to Treat Obama Voters

Non-violent protest against a political ideology...hmmm where does that sound familiar...Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi? Didn't they receive Nobel Peaces Prizes? And this guy gets a * Terrible and on the "Worst Person List?"

The liberal mind is seriously warped...

Non-violent protest? Who cares if it is non-violent, the guy is a doctor. Hippocratic oath means nothing to him. He is rejecting care to people based on his politics.

What kind of human being is he? He is in a position where he has the resources, "education", and ability to help heal and take care of other people, but choose not to over stupid politics. He isn't epic, he is an idiot freaking out over something Fox news told him. The health care didn't go public, there wasn't any government take over.

It is kinda simple, he is a ethically bad doctor, regardless of his politics. Democrat or republican he should still have the human compassion within him to care for the person standing next to him despite their political differences. He doesn't though.

Speaks volumes about him as a human being.

I was gonna watch this video... but then I though to myself: "it's saturday afternoon, I'm relaxing at home, why bother getting aggravated over another american right wing moron? Not worth it..."

But if the title says it all, the man is not only a bad person, he's a terrible doctor, and he should lose his license.

In europeland, where health is,if not totally free, at the very least quite affordable, these sort of stories just pisses us off. If the right wing was to propose dropping national health care, there would be fucking riots in the streets.

And i'll leave you with a tale of mine: My wife if pregnant, and should be giving birth in a few weeks. We have monthly pregnancy appointments with the doctor and nurse at the local clinic (and every week now, closer to the actual birth), we had 2 or 3 ultrasound scans, and we attend a two times a week pregnancy preparation class at the local clinic as well (with a bunch of other couples who are about to have their babies, and they teach stuff about how to properly take care of the baby, what to expect from labor, breathing exercises, etc). How much did this wonderful care service cost us you ask?

NOTHING.

And then we're having the baby at the local, state-run, public hospital. If we end up paying 10 euros for the delivery, and the two days that my wife and the baby need to stay there, it will be too much.

Last month, my dog woke up abruptly, and confused my lower lip for a chew toy. I needed 12 stitches.

The ER doctors asked if I had any allergies, then Rx'd me an antibiotic I was allergic to. Thankfully, I asked my pharmacist some questions that might have saved my life. The dose they gave me at the ER caused me to itch violently (especially around my lymph nodes).

And I get to pay over a grand for the so-called "best medical care in the world." What a fucking joke.

This doctor is an asshole. Isn't this what the Republicans were threatening would happen? Except they thought that Obama supporters would be withholding care from registered Republicans...

Fucking stupid. You'd have to be to vote Republican or believe the lies that Fox spews.

^ do you think doctors should run like wal-mart? Or do you think doctors should treat sick people regardless of political affiliation?
Stupid question, I know. All of health care in the USA is a business and anyone who actually gives a fuck about caring for the sick is crushed under the weight of the "business".

Is a doctor a business or not? Can he deny his business or not?

Suppose the sign said "Whites only" or "Gay people seek treatment elsewhere" or "Muslims not welcome", would it be okay?

That said, it's probably legal, because we tend to make discrimination laws based on enumerated protected classes (e.g. race and religion), and I doubt political discrimination is on the list, because there haven't really been issues with it.

Personally, I think discrimination laws should reverse the default, and say that you don't discriminate, except for a specific list of enumerated exceptions. Would kinda keep us from having to do a new civil rights movement to protect strange new varieties of humans as they emerge (e.g. genetically modified humans, clones, cyborgs, MMO addicts, AI's, extraterrestrials, uplifted animals, transhumans, etc.).

gwiz665says...

@NetRunner My point was just that. I think it's legal, that doesn't mean I like it. I think discrimination laws should work the way you say, you can't discriminate unless certain factors apply.

@burdturgler What I want is one thing, what it is, is another. Doctors should not have any choice in who they treat, in my opinion, but as long as they are regular businesses they have that right (I think, not sure).

Um. I wonder how far the nearest other urologist is? The guy's being a [vulgar word describing female genitalia for pun purposes] but he's not violating his oath as long as he's not refusing treatment from urgent cases (not all that common for a urologist), performing surgery, providing abortions, or having sex with slaves of the households he visits.

You guys act like someone walked up bleeding all over the street and he said "nah, can't treat ya" The people walking up most likely have a cough...sheesh...talk about sensationalism. Theres thousands of doctors in the yellow pages...

rougysays...

This so-called doctor is obviously a low-life.

Of course, the cons love this firebrand "I'll do whatever the hell I want! I'm a Republican!" attitude, until that attitude is mirror-imaged in their direction, then it's unfair. It's "un-American."

It's always you cons doing this shit.

It's always you bastards who throw these kinds of tantrums when everything doesn't go your way.

This is the same mentality as changing "French Fries" to "Freedom Fries" or telling people not to park in your parking lot if they're Democrats.

You fuckers make life impossible here.

Maybe you'd go to a urologist to have your cough treated, but then I'm not familiar with your particular anatomy.

I think they shouldn't be subjected to discrimination. I suppose that makes me "pro" uplifted-transhuman-extraterrestrial-mmoaddicted-cyborg-animal rights.

Mostly though I'd wanna talk to 'em, because I think they'd have a rather unusual point of view on a lot of topics.

Like, should you spec your Death Knight Blood, or Unholy for the best raid DPS?

After reading the link provided above to the Hippocratic Oath, the section where they break down some of the lines seems to indicate that this doctor would be violating the morals of the community and lose his license under it.

Although, in the short term people should view it as a business and as such not spend their time, money, and effort at said business when they don't like how it's being operated or has been operated by the current employees/managers/owners.

In the long term, I think the guy at least deserves a review by the medical board to make sure he is performing his due diligence as a doctor. If he is this easily off put by people, I can only imagine what other imagined slights he thinks his patients have done him and acted in response to.

Personally I think if I were going to put up a sign to prove my displeasure at something, I'd choose a topic where someone else is actively endangering myself and others. Activities such as: Any kind of cell phone use while driving, not using turn signals, being medically/physically unable to safely drive yet still doing so (I see this a lot at the local hospital.....why don't the doctors have the authority to stop this activity via phone call to police?), etc.

Pick any one of the above as a care giver and choose not to treat people who choose to participate in those activities and I'd support you. And I'd argue that you are probably doing less harm by not treating people who participate in activities that kill carloads of people on a daily basis. But political reasons.......are about as petty as they come.
