Dead Blue Whale 'might explode' in Newfoundland Town

YT: A dead blue whale is slowly rotting on the beach of the western Newfoundland community of Trout River, Canada. The whale's 25-metre (82 feet) carcass washed into fishing town just over a week ago,and residents fear it may explode. They also say the smell is taking its toll on the community. Local resident Lloyd Hann said: "Well, its getting worse now. If the weather ever warmed up, it'd be really bad." It is thought the whale is one of a group of blue whales that died several weeks ago in heavy ice off Newfoundland's Western coast. The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans said the event is a naturally occurring phenomenon. Report by Sarah Kerr.
