garmachiI can't think of a classier way to handle that situation.
Also, why the eruption of applause at 7:55?
longdeLeave it to Dave to make possible infidelity and sexual harassment sound classy.
He may be immune from blackmail, but he is still open to lawsuits.
dagComment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
Well done by Dave. Count me in as someone who doesn't like to imagine Dave having sex. Just seems like he would be cracking sarcastic jokes during the act- with a theme song by Paul in the background.

Because he's got he cajones to say "Yes I Have". I just think the audience approved of his candor.
RedSkyThis just proves that his audience is in such a suggestable mood that they'll laugh at anything.
OrnthoronHe manages to inject some sharp social commentary about halfway through as well: "Was that the foreigners laughing?" Dave is, above all else, a professional.

And he's pro for being able to put them IN that mood.

xxovercastxxConsidering his first marriage ended in 1977 and he didn't remarry until 2009, and that he began hosting "this show" (The Late Show) in 1993, it's rather likely that no infidelity was involved, at least on Dave's part. Even Late Night debuted in 1982, so he'd already have been divorced.
MrFiskClassy Fame outro.
TheFreakIt's always been my belief that the only way to deal with someone manipulating you and/or the people around you is complete honesty.
Some people thrive on the fact that most people are reluctant to openly discuss uncomfortable topics. Confronting the manipulation head on with complete honesty pulls the rug completely out from under them and exposes them to everyone involved. You also tend to find out that the honesty is pretty liberating.
Well played Dave.
zdonksays...And Letterman is the one who made vulgar jokes about Sarah Palin's daughter...words fail me and that doesn't happen too often!
The hypocrisy is overwhelming!
TrancecoachY'know, if it happens on the Late Show, it must've also been happening on the the other late night shows (Carson, Leno, O'Brien, Ferguson, Kimmel, Fallon, Daly...)

Some people have earned respect and admiration, luckily you'll never have to deal with that.

RottyI never watch david letterhead or the rest of your "late night" morons. And, I'm not surprised at the amount at the amount of support for infidelity here. Like half admitting your fuck ups is enough.

Because the entire Republican party renounced Senator John Ensign when he confessed to having an affair, right?

Doesn't infidelity generally require that the offending person be married at the time?

That's what I was thinking. As it stands it's just a (kinda ugly) guy getting his freak on with his employees.
gwiz665I did that. Worked out pretty well in the end.

I guess that depends on your standards of life. I really don't care about these hollywood pukes, but you people can justify whatever you want. How many weddings for your sister do you want to attend?
RaaaghThat PR completely over-estimates the importance of his opinion

I think you had another video open, or a banner in another window, which had applause and it coincided with 7.55, cos i had no applause at that time mark.
And infidelity isn't completely inappropriate as a tag. Go look it up. It could be calling him an infidel, ie. religious infidelity. Or just performing a disloyal act. It doesn't require that you're married or committed to another person.
I really don't see any of the fuss:
NEWS FLASH - MAN HAS RELATIONSHIPS WITH WOMEN THAT HE KNOWS OVER A PERIOD OF YEARS.
Ok, it was at work, but if it was inappropriate, it's for the women to say so. Wouldn't be surprised if they say so now, because it's the perfect time to cash in - magazines and interviews and such. Such is the world we've created.

I think the quibble over the word "infidelity" is a bit beside the point. The public opinion is generally that infidelity means spousal infidelity, which this probably was not. (They were on a break!!

What's the fuck-up? That he had sex with an employee? Pfft, unless he directly abused his power and she had been the one complaining, that might have been the issue, but it really isn't here. You can argue that employer/employee relationships always are wrong, but are they really? If no one is taken advantage of then no one loses.
TangledThornsSarah & Todd Palin should write ten tips to David Letterman on how not to be a cheating douche bag of a husband
pwn3d!
spoco2Well played by Dave indeed, just being honest is the only way to handle it and removes all possibility of extortion.
This vid is a painful version with many bits cut out and GOD DAMN TALKING HEADS for most of it... man I hate the amount of talking head dickheadedness on tv these days.
SHUT UP, report the news, SHOW the news, but stop bloody telling people your opinion on something.
I'm watching a version not cut at the moment.
I'm sure it'll be taken down soon though.

He's been with Regine Lasko since 1988, so infidelity was involved.

Oh, that comment is from the original video (pulled from youtube for copyright by cbs). It was originally Dave's entire talk from the show.
