It really is sad that an occasion as wonderful as the Olympics has been hijacked by *politics, police, and corporate interests. There really were many many more police in the parade than athletes.

It saddens me to admit that I just can't get excited about these international games coming to my country with all the controversy (and military-style security) surrounding them. It seems to be less about people now. The symbolism hollowed out inside.
