Chris Matthews Confronts Idiot Calling Obama "Communist"

Chris Matthews seeks clarification from Romney support who accuses Obama of being a communist.

"Just study it out" she says.

Old hag ought to know what a Communist is, you lived through the Cold War and apparently learned nothing. Perhaps we need a new phrase, we have Low Information Voter, maybe we need "No Information Voter" or "Bullshit Mountain Voter."

That's not surprising since they Soviet Union wasn't Communist in the traditional sense at all.

If you cannot even explain yourself (let alone prove it) when you put an accusation out there, there should be some sort of penalty out there beyond just public humiliation.

I know this is unworkable and undemocratic and impossible but she should not be allowed to vote. Not because I don't agree with her, not because she's (wild guess) a republican, but because she has no idea what she's talking about and her vote is just a proxy vote for whatever radio show host that's telling her what to think.

We should get a non-biased body (7 words in and it's already unworkable!) to come up with 2,000 multiple choice questions based on this country's politics and history, enough so no one could just memorise a leaked list. Each voter gets 10 random questions and their vote is weighted by how much they know. Know your stuff? You get 9 or 10 votes. Clueless idiot? You get 2 or 3 votes from guessing answers. Seemingly actually trying to be wrong like this lady, you're lucky to get 1. I don't imagine I'd get 10/10 but I'd expect to get 5 or 6, and I'd probably take more of an interest; there'd be a generally better informed electorate.

It annoys me that if this thing lives in a US swing state, her vote is probably 1,000,000 times more important to shaping the world than my vote, which is irrelevant in a constituency which has voted for one of two virtually identical parties in every election for decades.

She was clearly referring to the quasi-Rousseauian undertones of Obama's pre-election promises when compared to his autocratic yet Hegelian dialectic of historical materialism as demonstrated by his attempt to governmentalise the auto-industry.

This woman is clearly a first generation Frankfurt school type critical theorist as she quoted the now infamous Adorno and Hawkheimer work "Just study it out". Far from a derogatory phrase she is merely asking the American people to abandon their nationalistic self-destruction and embrace internationalism as entolled by Tolstoy and Lenin.

Kudos comrade.

Someone suggested to me that the reason Americans are so fucking desperate to avoid the universal health care that the rest of the advanced world takes for granted, is because they spent 40 years fighting communism and that to accept 'socialised healthcare' is an admission that the Cold War was a waste of fucking time.

Interesting argument.

In other words, we're going to have to wait for everyone who lived through the cold war to die off before we can become progressive enough to have universal health care.

It's stuff like this that make me really despise pride. all these uninsured people, people who have died and who will die. All because we're too stubborn to say, "huh, maybe we're wrong and there is a better way to do this and someone else figured it out first"

All the moments where I grew as a person were usually right after I swallowed my pride and acknowledged that maybe someone else knew more than I on something.
