Lift up its skirt.
GeeSussFreeKsays...Having had cats for most my existence, I must say the reaction I get from store bought chemically treated catnip is much different that the catnip we used to grow. This my be just the difference in personalities in cats, but store catnip has always turned my cats into what seems like meth heads...crazy aggressive and hyper, like they are tripping balls. Not the same for the catnip patch, they would just lay and flip around in it...really calm like a bunch of people smoking weed or something. I don't know if this was just a difference in cats, or the nip itself...anyone else have this experience?
Porksandwichsays...Various cats have had different degrees of reaction to catnip. The ones who reacted the least tended to like the home grown stuff more than the store bought. The ones who reacted the most, it didn't really matter...I think the store bought ones maybe had an effect on them longer than home grown..like it was stronger. More like the nip would last for days versus it making the cat react longer is what I mean.

I've got a "picky" catnip cat. He only likes the stickiest of the icky, aka, store bought stuff like this that's been dried to the point of it being almost dusty he wont touch. Fresh stuff from the farmers market, on the other hand, and he was trying to scratch through my cabinet door.
What a smug son of a bitch -_-
Gosh I love my kitty ^=^
(yes that's really him)
Paybacksays...I have the same reaction to uncut Bolivian Blanca.

So I'd never heard that before, but a google search seems to verify it. Interesting that it is a largely sex-linked trait, sorta like colorblindness in humans. Learn something new every day, I guess!
