I'm a big cat lover, and I don't really understand the reactions of all these people. I'm uncomfortable just watching this video. The second I saw that cat get near the gator, I would have been the first one running towards it to scare it off. Not sure if I could handle seeing a cat get eaten..

Did they know the gator wouldn't just clamp down? If so, how? If not, why were they comfortable taking that risk with their pets? I don't know. The cat is barely any bigger than the gator's mouth. Doesn't seem like it would be much of an effort to have a quick meal.

I think those two furrows behind the cat are his enormous balls dragging in the sand.

For the cat-lovers I would suggest that an intervention might distract the cat and shift the advantage to the gator. Like these guys I would let it play out. Besides this might have happened before and the cat knows his working distance.

And he's not going to go near water. He's a cat.

Youtube comments seem to suggest this is a regular show put on to amuse tourists with the assumption that a cat gets eaten once in a while.

I'm guessing:

1> Gators have just been fed
2> Gators are still adolescents
3> Cat & the owner's been doing this for awhile.

In any case, it's a rare sight, and deserves an upvote.

They're not their cats. I'm not sure I'd want to risk getting any closer to try and move the cat off.

I swear the first gator was just thinking "Did he just bop me on the nose? He did. Damn! Ok you sit there I'll be right back." gets back in the water "Hey Larry! Your not going to believe this! I went up on shore to see what the hell was going on and lunch ran up and bopped me on the nose!" Larry "Your kidding right? Oh I've got to see this." 1st gator, "See he's sitting right over there. Cool! there are now 2 of them! Lets see if it bops me again!"
