CGR's On This Day In Gaming - June 27, Atari Founded!

"Happy birthday Atari! Classic Game Room presents CGR's ON THIS DAY IN GAMING! On June 27, 1972, Atari was founded by chill-out colleagues Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. The company would launch the video game industry with arcade hits like Pong, Asteroids, Centipede, and Breakout, before being sold to Warner Communications for $28 million, a move that would bring business and creative forces to a head. Bushnell would be removed, designers like David Crane would depart, the release of the Atari 5200 would baffle the consumer, and the saturation of terrible games would leave Atari and the gaming industry in shambles."
