Horrific incident is captured on video of an innocent man being beaten mercilessly by NYPD officers in uniform.

BLOW BY BLOW: Officer Maurice Harrington is caught on video whacking Michael Cephus with a baton while another cop handcuffs the suspect before they finally subdue him.

The victim screams in agony as the police officer inflicts savage blows to his legs with a baton, also known as a bat, causing extreme pain and bleeding while crying out his arm has been injured.

He was resisting arrest.
Granted it looked ugly, but it got the cuffs on him.

You wanna be a smartass and flaunt the law, your gonna get beaten.

Krupo says...

At least they didn't taser him (i.e., he's alive)... but still horrible. Did someone just record this off of a TV though? Odd.

Sad.

if anyone's a smartass it's you, coming up with a statement like this. i can tell you've never had a bad experience with the cops or you'd know better.

^ I don't think he was being a smart ass. The quickest way to avoid being beaten is to do as the cops say, exactly when they say it without any lip. Period. It may not feel like justice as the cuffs go on and the urge to mouth off may be too great, and if so, be my guest.

I can see how this could be considered excessive since the cop gave him a pretty decent number of whacks in the process of cuffing him. I also think it is funny that this is the real alternative to tasing... the method everyone seems to hate so much. If someone is not complying while being arrested, they are going to be subdued one way or another. This way just tends to leave more lasting marks.

My old man was a cop for 30 years.
Excessive force would be whipping the guy with his baton if the guy was laying face down placing his arms behind his back...this guy was resisting arrest, so he got a beating, which got the cuffs on him.

Job done, quit whinging. They dont give cops those night sticks so they can just swing them from a rope and whistle.

All the cops had to do, was to grapple the guy, not beating him senseless with a stick when he's already on the ground. Such primitive cops... don't they learn to handle guys like this, without causing injuries? There are plenty of ways to put a guy down on the ground, specially when there are two cops! They should take a trip to a mental hospital, and see how a couple of nurses handles a crazy guy.

Tell me again why officers shouldn't have tazers?

Even after getting the shit beat out of him, this jackass was STILL resisting arrest. Don't want to get arrested? Don't break the fucking law.

HOWEVER - there are much less primitive ways of using pain compliance techniques that this. get a broom or something similar (the pole part) and put it across you shin right above your foot, with your thumbs behind your leg. (Thumbs pressing on your tendon/fingers grasping the pole) and pull the pole into your shin.

Hurts like a motherfucker, dunnit?

Too bad that people either fail to see or simply look past the fact that pain is a universal language and is the best way to induce compliance - so no matter what techniques are employed, people will bitch about SOMETHING.
