This highlights how unjust alot of things are there are plenty of people who are very talented at something and evan try realy hard at it but cannot progress simply due to finance, upbringing, locatoin you could probably replace the majorty of people who are conciderd to be "the best" with people who are mutch better but havent had the luck ore opertunity. its always nice when sumone who hasent had the luck finaly makes it in some way.

Wow... I can't honestly believe that a guy who seems so meek has such a pot of gold in him. He is such an inspiration to all artists. In Japan, all we get is American idol, which does often just have the same kind of crap day in day out. I wish we had something as diverse as this.

"Whatever is in the wikipedia article now does nothing except say he's an amateur."

Not sure what your definition of amateur is, but he's far from a guy who just sings in front of a mirror at home.

There are lots of amateur opera singers, folks.
Just because no one who'd watch "Britain's Got Talent" has any clue about opera doesn't make it fantastic; this is more a case of the little guy getting his shot than anything else.
And that's not the first time I've seen a woman get moist listening to opera.

theo, ever been to and opera house in Italy, me neither, bet there's peeeelenty of passion-stains in the ol' O-House seats, mattsy, gluomium, ya' cry-babies, save those tears for your favorite pain, and Karaidl, you really love the pain-in-the-ass, tick kinda, guest-host varmit gig, I want a bobble-head version of yer crazy ass for the dash.......

Am I the only one thinking that this was a terrible delivery? I was frowning the whole time I was watching this clip. Ugh!

I've seen better talents in this show than this guy, and they get sent off. Why is everyone cheering? Oh yea, for an amateur, it's amazing. And yes, Opera is refreshing apart from whatever the hell they're singing about. But tears? TEARS? Those hicks MOCK OPERA SINGERS!!!!

I'm no 'expert' on classical music or anything, but at least I can call myself a dilettante. And I must say, if you think that was 'moving', you guys should CLEAN OUT YOUR EARS, and really learn to appreciate opera with the REAL stuff.

Yes, it's good to see people appreciating opera for a change. But it also seems like the audience is so ignorant when it comes to arias, serenade and operas that they seem to love anything that sounds remotely 'opera-like'.

It really disgusts me how some people were 'moved' by this mediocre performance. It really does.

And just for fun, compare this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a7yb3dWhJs

With the Habanera sung by Angela Gheorgheiu from the list. Notice the difference?

Call me anal, but some people can actually hear the differences. Just because you memorized some fancy Italian lyrics doesn't make you an Opera singer.

Hell, I too have memorized the lyrics of Con Te Partiro, so please give me my 1 million dollar album contract.

This Downs syndrome-struck man makes Josh Groban sound good. Gawd!

And I thought we Americans were R-tards when it came to culture... Jesus Christ. Brits should be ashamed of themselves. They're in Europe for god sakes. No wonder they had no famous classical musicians from England back in the days. And the same tone-deaf, hooligan loving, bad teethed, alcohol binging genes must've carried on to this day.

EDIT: I see some comments that are actually in agreeance with me. I was so upset after watching that clip, I didn't thoroughly check the reply section. Thank god some of you actually have ears.

EDIT 2: I just found out where Katherine Jenkins (The blondie from the link above) came from. Guess what? No way! United Kingdom? Get outta here!

She isn't THAT bad. But for some reason, she sucks when it comes to very well known melodies sung in big stages...

I wish this was the better version that has the judges comments after, but that version is easy to find on YT if anyone wants it. I *promote it because every time I watch it it makes me cry. It also makes me think, this is not my country. I just can't see Americans reacting that way. If this were the American show, that 6 year old would have won for sure.
