Two great Jewish musicians from the city of Oran in Algeria: Maurice el Medioni - a great piano player known as the Ruben Gonzales of the Maghreb who mixed andalusian music with rai, jazz, boogie woogie and latin sounds - and Reinette L'Oranaise - a blind chaabi singer who helped to preserve the andalus canon.
