WTF Canada... Milk in bags??

vermonter says...

When I was growing up in the Albany, NY area in the late eighties they test marketed this approach to selling milk. So, I do recall getting milk in bags like this for a period of a year or so. Obviously, it never stuck and I'd just assumed the idea was dead. Funny to see it lives on in Canada.

Of course those large cafeteria milk dispensers with a weight you lift to allow the milk to flow just have big plastic bags on the inside as well.

Bombproof Wallpaper.

vermonter says...

I've never seen anyone wallpaper the face of a brick or concrete block wall. If this is intended to mean anything they should use real wall assemblies. I suspect the cost of the paper would be better spent on upgrading the construction from the typical (sheathing and framing materials you can cut with utility knives and metal snips) to something heavier duty.

There is no reason for any of this. Cockpit security is already fine. Before 9/11 everyone in the industry was told to cooperate with hijackers. What used to happen was a flight to Cuba or some other destination and then a hostage stand-off. Simply changing to the locked cockpit door is the only new security that was, or is, necessary. The rest of this is just security theater, but no one seems to know how to stop.

Fantastic animated building projection

vermonter says...

This is visually awesome, but I think it must be a proof-of-concept piece for a 3D post-production software package. That would explain the camera movement to show how well it stays synchronized. A building with such a regularized grid makes a perfect choice as well.

The reason I think so is that when elements move in and out significant distances, the perspective on those elements looks proper for the camera position, even when the camera is viewing the building from an oblique angle to one side. There is no way to make a flat projection do this from every viewing angle.
