Hey, no need to apologize. First, it wasn't my video that you duped - it was Crake's. Second, accidents happen. That's why they put erasers on pencils, right?

The reason your embed wasn't recognized as a dupe is that your embed came from YouTube, while Crake's came from blip.tv. Two different beasts. These things happen.

I hope you're doing well. Take care.In reply to this comment by persephone:
Hey Kronos, didn't know it was adupe, sorry. Why would the sift not recognise the embed and let me post it?

Just Ellen Page Juggling

kronosposeidon says...

Ha, I was thinking it was a hospital too. And what's with the backpack? Is she a nursing student?

You can never tell what Ellen Page is up to, because she has such a quirky sense of humor. If you don't believe me, watch this. >> ^Deano:

Ellen Page, hospital entertainer.

I can see one more application. Responsive, moving love-bots are right around the corner. Just put a robot in a RealDoll and they won't be able to print money fast enough to give you. >> ^Skeeve:

I can see some household/servant-type applications for these but their usefulness seems to end there.

Drunk Girl Interviewed at Cubs Opening Day

Now that I've watched it again I'm thinking this is an April Fool's Day stunt by WBEZ. I checked the posting date on Vimeo and it is April 1st. She says so many priceless lines, and she doesn't know who the players on the wall are, which would be pretty lame for a diehard Cubs fan.

Still, it's funnier than hell. Hey, public radio needs money. If they can generate publicity like this then more people might be willing to open their wallets for them. NPR forever! >> ^Matthu:

Tilt-Shifted Ski Resort

Me too - in the spring and in the summer. It's beautiful year-round. For those of you who don't know, Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone National Park are all near each other. The whole area is definitely worth visiting at least once in your lifetime, if not more often.>> ^Lann:

I've been there.

<Son of a bitch, still a mess. Fuck it.>

@xxovercastxx is right. Ask people who have seen the original. They might remember it well enough to make the call. If they can confirm that it's a dupe then a * dupeof invocation is in order, and then the dead one can be fixed.

Bill Maher Says It Again -- somehow, it is the clearest yet

kronosposeidon says...

IF the dead video is indeed the original, then this video would be considered a dupe. The * dupeof and the * isdupe invocation would used, then the embed from this video, the dupe, should be used to fix the original. We're not allowed to post dupes, even if the original is dead.

Having got that out of the way, there is little I have to go on to know if this video is a dupe or not of the one linked by chiccorea. I can only tell that the dead one is 3:22, and this video is 3:23; and that the dead video's YouTube title is "Bill Maher on Mormonism and Religion in Politics". It could be a dupe, but for me that's not enough information to make an informed decision, because I never watched the dead video. Bill Maher has talked about Mormons on more than one occasion, so it's not enough evidence for a conviction, IMO.>> ^thinker247:

What's the protocol when the original is dead and the dupe is alive?

Boston Dynamics has done a lot of cool research with walking robots:

@oohlalasassoon has a point about the questionable necessity of robotic leg locomotion, but I still think legs are going to be used by at least some future robots, if for no other reason than we simply want to create something in our own image. And then hunt it down like in Blade Runner.
