Norwegian kid banned from PS3 - drama ensues

Not a single post on how weird it is that the parents are videotaping this kid's meltdown? That is what I find most disturbing about this clip. There is something fundamentally wrong that this kid is not talking to his father, he is talking to his father with a camera in front of his face.

Creeps me out.

I feel like Chris What-his-name, of the infamous Britney defense video.

Just leave thepinky alone! Why can't you just leave thepinky alone!??!!!

She had an opinion, she stated it cleanly, defended it coherently, and man, what a pile-on!

I get that maybe she says things like this all the time -- and why shouldn't she? Nothing has changed, and the huge upvote for a mildly amusing video is proof of that. The ensuing pile-on if further proof.

Hang in there, thepinky. I'm with you.

>But but but...how was that troll-like in the least?

Wow. I don't know thepinky -- I'm not on here enough to figure out personalities. However, I thought thepinky's original comment was just fine, the defense of the original comment logical, and the downvoting on that comment pretty weird.

I'm with you, thepinky. This video was not particularly funny and not worth the upvote.

Mormon Home Invasion

bareboards says...

My brother is a Mormon in California. He told me about this ad and how horrible it was. Missionaries invading someone's home! How stupid!

I told him to imagine that he were the couple. He might just possibly feel exactly like that. Invaded.

Now there is some hate talk against Mormons. And they are saying -- see how gays really are? Not tolerant at all!

They give me such a headache.

Newsreader Loses It On Radio When Reporting Felchers

That's actually not felching.

Actual felching is really much more gross, if you can believe it. I can't bring myself to write what it actually is. Oh, I just checked. Wiki it yourself.

5th grade reporter asks Joe Biden "What a does a VP do?"

bareboards says...

I think that just quibbling. Picking out a word here or there. Biden talks about dealing with Senators to make policy. He doesn't mention tie-breaking.

Don't get me wrong, I think Palin wants to be Cheney. She said something similar in the VP debates that also smacked of Cheney.

My point is -- I believe someone non-partisan listening to the two answers would say they were virtually the same.

I don't know any non-partisans, or I'd test it out....

5th grade reporter asks Joe Biden "What a does a VP do?"

bareboards says...

Okay, now this is a double standard. Biden said the same thing as Palin, just used more words to say it. He also left out the presiding over the Senate, tie-breaking vote bit.

I don't like Palin. I like Biden. But let's be fair. His answer is no different than Palin's.

(Now is someone out there going to insult me because I called for fairness? Why not pass on the snark, I'll consider it already done.)

Lost Cop Shoots Puppy On Private Property In Oklahoma

Tasers were mentioned above by someone. How come he didn't taser the dog? And pepper spray is an option. I think it is really weird that a gun is pulled when there were at least two other weapon choices, not to mention the good ole kick to the head.

I have a lot of relatives in Oklahoma -- to most of them, a dog is a dog. You don't get sentimental about them, especially outdoor dogs. My dad has often talked about shooting animals on his property -- squirrels, coyotes, whatever. It is in part a farm mentality, I think, that leads folks out there to wall themselves off from their feelings.

Bottom line -- taser. Pepper spray. Foot. Deadly force -- inappropriate.

Obama and "Joe the Plumber"

bareboards says...

Excuse me, but when was this taped??? Going by the last line, it seems like it was the day of the debate. Obama says "I gotta go prepare for this debate."

I thought from the first moment he spoke that Joe was a shill, planted in the line to ask the question.

When I watched the debate, I thought McCain was acting pretty weird about Joe the Plumber, with Republican catch phrases like "spread the wealth" and what-all. He had a "gotcha" energy to him that I found unappealing at the time, off-center, off-balance.

Now I think I know why. That was a prepared bit, I'd bet a whole dollar on it. Joe was placed there to ask his question in front of the cameras. McCain must have thought he'd died and gone to heaven when Obama actually SAID "spread the wealth."

I would love for my supposition to be proven correct. News cycle being what it is, I'm counting on it.

PS Doesn't Joe look like that gay reporter that was planted in Bush's White House press corps? Bald head, strongly built....
