Exercise is NOT the Key to Weight Loss

PalmliX says...

This jives perfectly with my own experience over the years. I struggled with weight my entire life, diets, gym, etc... nothing worked or sticked.

A year ago I hit my peak weight of 335lbs, since then I've lost 70lbs, ALL due to diet. I go on walks and get little to moderate exercise occasionally but the weight loss has been 100% due to diet.

The secret? Counting calories, just reduce it to simple numbers, all the different and often contradictory shit people say about diet and weight loss I just threw out the window and focused on my daily caloric intake.

The best part about this "diet" is that I basically still get to eat whatever I want, as long as I stay within my daily calories, I still loose weight.

christian woman is really upset with you

PalmliX says...

I really don't understand why these people are so upset because it's not as if the government has said that a religious definition of marriage has to be X, they're just saying that on a civic level, it's X, but as far as a particular church or a minister goes, they can still refuse to marry a gay couple can't they?

It's not as if the government is forcing pastors to marry gay couples is it? Or re-defining what the Christian definition of marriage is? Didn't they just re-define marriage on the civic/legal level? I'm honestly really confused here... Are they upset because now the government's definition no longer jives with theirs?

Dude Where's My Car? Kitimat Gets 2 Meters of Snow in 2 Days

PalmliX says...

Hah fair enough, if you have a passion that requires snow then I can understand. Unfortunately my passion is much better in the summer. It's do-able in the winter but it's basically not really worth it.

I'm a snowboarder, I'd kill for that amount of snow.
Driveway be damned

You wouldn't be *envious* if you had to live through winter after winter after winter in a northern climate country. Sure it looks fun, and it is for a few minutes, then you have to shovel your driveway for the 15th time and try to get to work on time. I'm in Canada right now and I'm just counting the weeks until spring...

Real Time with Bill Maher: Johann Hari on The War on Drugs

PalmliX says...

Eh, I don't really get what everyone is going on about. Yah Bill Maher comes off as a bit of a dick most times, but isn't that kind of the point of his show in the first place? It's not an interview show, it's an opinion/discussion show where him and his guests are often shouting over each other at times.

On top of that he's also a comedian. Jon Stewart will try and get a laugh when he can during an interview as well, granted he's more subtle about it.

To me this was a very standard interview for Maher, possibly even more retrained than usual. You could definitely argue he's not a good interviewer, but I guess that depends on what your expectation for a Bill Maher interview is.

He's not just going to sit there and let the person blab on for the entire 8 minutes (very short of amount of time for a decent interview in the first place). Bill's whole persona is someone who has a very specific opinion or slant or bias if you will and he's made a career out of speaking his mind in an 'in your face' kind of way. Obviously he's going to interject here and there and steer the conversation towards an area that appeals to his audience/pet topics.

Half Life in One Map

PalmliX says...

The title isn't entirely accurate, it's not all the maps from the game, for instance, Zen is completely missing. It's all the maps that make up the Black Mesa facility, which is still pretty epic, but it's not the entire game.

Motorcycles in the future will not tip over. Lit Motors

PalmliX says...

In the future motorcycles won't tip over but no one will ride them because the whole point of motorcycles is to look like a bad ass as you go through your midlife crisis, crashing is part of the cool factor.
