My Self Promotion didn't work?

I tried the Self-Promote thingy. As I read the FAQ (my interpretation of the FAQ may be flawed because I can't understand the damn thing) I should be able to self-promote my own post at a cost of two power points.
I did this without results. That's okay, but siftbot didn't yell at me as I'm used to.
I have 5 points, my homepage says Available: Now and Last Power Point Used: never.
So, basically I'm confused and would appreciate any useful input (useful input please, calling me an idiot--however correct--is optional).

Have you and siftbot had an argument? Is siftbot ignoring you?

But seriously, my promotes didn't work, my Power Points weren't deducted, and siftbot didn't reply at all. <shrug>

From my reading of the FAQ I think I should be able to do that.

RFlaggThe first time you tried it, did you not include the proper tags the first round and did an edit? Seems Siftbot ignores edits... though it shouldn't deduct points either in that case so perhaps never mind...
