How To Update Your Video's Thumbnail Image

As you might recall, we over three months ago added support for the ability to change your video thumbnails. Given the large number of videos that still have no thumbnail, it seems that either most people haven't gotten the message or they don't know how to create thumbnails. Here's a bit of a step-by-step to help you on your way:
  1. Be a Bronze Star member.
  2. Play the video and pause on the frame you would like to use as your thumbnail.
  3. Capture a full screenshot of your entire monitor's screen, crop the screenshot to just part of the paused video, and save as an image file on your computer.
  4. Click the "modify video details" link on an existing video.
  5. Click the "Upload File" field in the edit form. Select the image file you saved on your computer in step 3.
  6. Fin.
Note: Your thumbnail image should be a rectangle (and as close to 4:3 or 1.33:1 as possible). If it's too oddly shaped it may be cropped and/or squished by siftbot.

Now you have no reason to leave your videos with ugly missing thumbnails! (That goes double for those of you who are much more tech savvy than others - what's up with you people?!)

(If you're a Mac user, you probably noticed the link above is only for Windows. If you're using a Mac, here are some alternate instructions.)
