From what I had been reading, and reviews from friends - I already was pretty sure I would love it, and I did. What a fantastic movie.

My biggest complaint, is that this smart, beautifully acted and directed film didn't get a general release here in Australia. I had to go to the local "art house" cinema (Dendy Brisbane) across town to see it. It depresses me that a dumb, CGI wet-dream spasm like Eagle Eye would be shown everywhere, forever- and film like Moon doesn't rate a national release. We may never have another movie culture changing SF movie like 2001 because not enough people would see it. Honestly, I doubt that 2001 would make a national release in this era.

If only the public had access to some sort of common information depository that could mitigate the obscurity of interesting movies with feeble marketing budgets.

One might set up some form of hype-amplifier in the service of culture.

It is excellent. Good on you for finally seeing it. For those poor folk who've been left out, there's always the the Swedish Library.

The Moon was a good, understated Sci-Fi that does what Sci-Fi does best: examine social/psychological issues by using imaginary scenarios. I can't stand how Sci-Fi has been co-opted by brainless Hollywood movie execs who think Sci-Fi should equal big budget action movies that require you to check your brain at the door. Movies like The Moon are a return to form and with the advent of cheaper special effects I can't wait for more filmmakers to usher in a new era of Sci-fi.

^Exactly BTE, those are my thoughts too. Duncan Jones' next movie he is comparing to Bladerunner in scope and world creation - I hope he doesn't lose the hand-made feel and sense of wonder that this movie had.

Rats. The closest theater is hours away. Sucks. When is the disc version coming out?

Yeah, Moon was good. It's been a while since I saw a sci-fi movie with a different plot line to it. Getting away from the usual formula of the era movie that's set within an alien setting where somebody gets killed at the beginning and the main character spends the rest of the movie killing people for justice. Anyway, for the poor and impatient folk you can try ninjavideo.net

I thought it was excellent that they got Kevin Spacey to play SiftBot.

I finally gave up on waiting, it's going to hit the local movie theatres during spring '10 at the earliest. So a BR-rip it was ... and now I'm even more pissed that it's not shown anywhere. Loved it, from start to finish, but I imagine you need to watch this one on the big screen. That said, I ordered three copies at Amazon right after the end. The upside of noone knowing about it: it makes for a great gift.
