oritteropoActually you did get the dead invocation to go, and as a bronze star if the owner doesn't fix it within two days you can then fix it yourself from the deadpool.
I don't know why it works that way, but it does.
You can also add a backup embed by deliberately duping it, and using dupeof= to put the backup embed on, even though you can't use the backup= invocation until gold star.
This video has been declared non-functional; embed code must be fixed within 2 days or it will be sent to the dead pool - declared dead by braschlosan.
oritteropoSilver was the one I was hanging out for, that's where you get *quality and the first chance to directly promote someone else's vid.
Keep posting cool vids and it shouldn't take long.

oritteropoYes, you got it to work. You can confirm this by checking the comment stream, turning on "show siftbot comments", and going along the comments until you get to the two in question... first one from you saying dupeof, second one from siftbot saying the usual dupe things... or by using search.
I'm pretty sure the feature doesn't apply to all killed vids, only dupes, and it's probably something to do with the way the ?noredirect command works.
I think I may have gotten it to work on the toothpick one but I can't be sure. There is a new "feature" where all comments on a killed video vanish. Someone made a talk thread about it and I posted to that thread as well.

I've made another tweak to *dupeof and *isdupe that will hopefully make them work properly for your own posts, but they're as yet untested.
Hello. I was going to help test out the new ability for a submitter to mark their own video *dupeof= however I ran into a new "feature" while testing.

Thank you for trying to get these changes in place. It may not seem like much but at least for me as a regular user I would feel a little less powerless

OK, well I can see why that one didn't work... it was because there had been no earlier dupeof called. The error should have been that there was no matching dupeof, but perhaps lucky has only allowed it in the exact case that it is your own vid and someone has already done dupeof.
You should have been able to do the isdupe for the toothpick one, except that it appears to have been done already.
You should be able to invoke *dupeof=(url) on that one.
