Sometimes it takes a dissertation worth of words to get to the underlying truth behind what is being said.

I guess I took it for granted that most of us oppose the idea of creating child soldiers. Every African warlord doing the same can claim the very same needs for defense and protection, it's still terrible.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, I don't think there are any clear guidelines on downvoting. It's kind of a free for all, and that seems to work pretty well.

Perhaps I'm not completely clear on the use of down voting, but basically I believed it was not quality. Usually, I just don't vote for things that I don't particularly care for, but something about this one made me stray into the downvote zone.
