So again, welcome to all, if you post or watch a video related to debunking, don't hesitate to invoke the channel, I dont have time to backtrack the entire VS library, but I've started off with a few good examples of what I mean by "Debunked!"
Seriously tho, anyone else tried it?, Its kinda cool, but not that different from IM, really, and visiting the public waves nearly always crashes your browser because of the content. I got 8 invites upon joining, and today I got 16 more, so I guess it'll spread pretty fast by now. Are there any plans to integrate it with VS, and does anyone have any good tips, downloads or gadgets to share?
Its an amazing tool for learning about stuff in the universe, and I'm sort-of bummed it hasnt gotten more attention.
I'd say this is just about the coolest thing MS has released, and its completely free too. Its still in Beta, so there are some bugs in there, but its still pretty awesome.
I can also easily recommend a Bad Astronomy daily intake, its one of the best blogs out there, IMO
By the way, isnt resift or resubmit a better word?, certainly easier to spell.. and more logical now that the queue is called Unsifted..
Today, as New Hampshire voters headed to the polls, The New Republic published an article carefully timed to hurt Ron Paul.
This article rehashes an old issue of quotations from newsletters published under Dr. Paul's name, but not edited by him. Dr. Paul takes full responsibility, as he has for over a decade, for failing to adequately monitor the words that went out under his name.
Apparantly it was this article (not linked to by Ron Pauls site) that prompted his response:
The Newsletters in question are supposedly full of various forms of racism, ad hominems, name-calling, sexual bigotry and conspiracy theories. According to Ron Paul, he didnt write them, so that doesnt matter.. but as stated in The New Republic article:
This portrayal might be more believable if extremist views had cropped up in the newsletters only sporadically--or if the newsletters had just been published for a short time. But it is difficult to imagine how Paul could allow material consistently saturated in racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, and conspiracy-mongering to be printed under his name for so long if he did not share these views. In that respect, whether or not Paul personally wrote the most offensive passages is almost beside the point. If he disagreed with what was being written under his name, you would think that at some point--over the course of decades--he would have done something about it.
This hilarious video of AARP "explaining" the concept of video games is priceless, I cant find an embeddable version, so I post it here in Talk instead:
The brave old man is fighting the good cause, after a 19 year-old refused to sleep with him "because he was too old"
"That was shattering. No woman has ever said that to me before," Eden told the tabloid. "I was crushed."
Heres a nice photograph from his happier days:
Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, Amy Winehouse and lots more Streaming recordings(use dropdown menu "tirsdag" to change day)
The page is in norwegian, but you can find lots of other bands , including Queens of the Stone Age, Amy Winehouse and Incubus, to name a few. Also recommended: norwegian band My Midnight Creeps
The video of Arcade Fire is from the HOVE festival earlier this summer, but there is also a festival on RIGHT now, Gogol Bordello just finished, and the whole thing is broadcast LIVE and immediately posted here:
Øya-Festival LIVE/streamed recordings
So, whenever I submit a video I suspect might get popular, I sometimes feel that the timing is just bad, and it slips to the eternal darkness of Queue page 2, before receiving the 10 votes needed to get front-page exposure.
Does anyone know, what time on the day is the ideal posting time for receiving votes? I guess its a bit of a two-egged sword, since your vids get quickly bumped down when more videos are submitted..
Dont know if its possible to embed this, but anyone with diamond (or "100"?) stars should atleast try and post this, an extremely fascinating interview with one of the greatest people alive today.
I cant wait till EOL goes online.
BTW: i seem to remember trying to post this yesterday, I was not notified of any deletion, so sorry if its a double post..
