Amber Heard’s witness lost his mind

newtboy says...

The entire case was a poorly written Hollywood clown show full of ridiculous over acting from everyone involved.

Herd is blacklisted now, Depp is back making movies. Like OJ, can’t we move on yet?

School Board cuts off parent

This is not a response,Bob, it’s a tantrum. Zero information contained in your post because you have none, zero attempt to contradict a single letter I wrote because you can’t, just whining as usual.
Wanna try again? This was a particularly weak reply, not even a good attempted insult, and more proof you have the education of a second grader who is failing English.

Your other posts were liars reading student written creative writing papers and pretending they were books that are part of the curriculum, why would anyone actually believe anything you people present. I just assume any MAGgot saying something political is lying and I haven’t been wrong yet. Even if this were a real book available at school, I explained clearly why it’s still not sexual, it’s about bullying….bullying you likely support in practice but pretend hearing “dick in the mouth” is going to turn kids gay, because you are a moron that doesn’t understand anything and gets his positions from consummate liars who benefit from your ignorance.

Bob—you haven’t recognized reality for at least 14 years, likely longer. The list of nonsensical lies you’ve spouted in your tenure here is so long if you were Pinocchio you could single handedly save the timber industry.

BTW- you should know, in order to be insulted by your tantrums, I would need to value your opinion, and I just don’t. When YOU try to insult me, it’s a compliment…an exceedingly poorly written compliment... Thanks.

You’ve been saying that for what, at least 4 months… but really since Jan 21. Hasn’t happened, but sure as fuck did with your party in control. D’oh.

Trump created record setting unemployment levels…record HIGH unemployment.

(Adjusted) Inflation FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS is 2.1%. For the year it’s 3.2%. I know reading comprehension is not a strong suit for you, but I spelled it out.

“Fed still need to destroy jobs”? Is this a prediction, or your theory? It’s so poorly written with such horrible grammar that it’s impossible to understand you.

More jobs were created than lost dummy…and good paying full time jobs. 13 million net jobs have been created under Biden, 3 million were LOST under Trump, the only modern president to lose jobs.

Massive government spending created the inflation…mostly under the previous administration that added $8 TRILLION to the debt in 4 years and dropped federal income significantly by letting billionaires pay less in taxes than fast food workers.

The economy is doing great. Inflation is low, wages are rising fast, unemployment is nothing, the market is booming, predictions for recession have evaporated and now they’re for a boom. Only morons that refuse to accept that a Democrat is better at the economy than conservative know nothings that refuse to admit it, but the numbers CONTINUE to bear it out despite your constant insistence it’s going to crash next week.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, we’ll go broke tomorrow, (but) it’s always a day away. -bob

Keep fooling yourself. Bidenomics is helping Americans and it’s getting better constantly. People who ignorantly believe what you say wouldn’t ever vote Democrat anyway, no matter what, but everyone else outside the cult sees reality and that’s great for the left and a disaster for bankrupt MAGA, especially next November.

Massive Government spending created this.

Trump Wanted Armed Groups At His Jan 6 Rally

newtboy says...

Um….it’s not a show, nor is it a trial. Derp.

It is about investigating, then handing over evidence for prosecuting, not persecuting those politically opposed to democracy that took actions to end it because they tried to cover up the certified, verified results of the election they lost in a historic landslide to Sleepy Joe. The prosecution comes afterwards, then the persecution.

It’s absolutely about covering up the truth about the 2020 election….it’s about investigating and eventually prosecuting those who tried to do that.

I think it’s funny that investigating Jan 6 is portrayed by the right as going after Trump, but you guys are so dumb you don’t realize that’s admitting Trump was leading the treasonous coup attempt. If investigating the Jan 6 attack is going after Trump, the two must be connected.

Right, CNN reported it, so it must be untrue. So stupidly ignorant, bob. CNN gets it right 197 times for every time your biased sources tell the truth. Not only that, the 2.5% they get wrong they report and offer retractions….without having to be sued for billions to get them to not lie. Not a single right wing propaganda outlet can say the same. Such sad infantile stupidity you show at every opportunity.

I guess you forgot, Trump actually admitted most of her testimony publicly, all the important parts, saying he wanted to go personally lead the attack but his secret service wouldn’t let him. Does the specifics of this tantrum of the dozens we’ve seen him have publicly make any difference? He’s not being charged with attacking them, he’s being charged (eventually) with leading a violent coup to overthrow the government, something you and everyone else knows quite well that he did. Leadership matters!

The Federalist?! Aaaaahahaha!! Truth..nope. News…nope. Try again traitorous loser. The Federalist is poorly written fantasy fiction compared to CNN, which isn’t the only source for this information by far but I knew a CNN report would trigger your stupidity. Mission accomplished.
You, on the other hand, have what to discredit her story? One anonymous claim from someone saying an unnamed someone else might say it didn’t happen? From the far right, racist, factless, conspiracy theory rag…The Federalist!? LMFAHS!! OMFG, you ijit! Bwaaaahahahahaha. Why not just quote Mike Pillow?

What part does the federalist deny anyway (I’m not going to read it). Do they just deny he grabbed the wheel? I would certainly believe his excuse, that he’s too fat and out of shape to grab the wheel, but also that he TRIED to, lunged for it but failed, yes, I believe that, does that change anything? Does that even contradict her testimony? No.
Do they deny he was outraged that they wouldn’t take him to personally lead the attack (and lynching of Pence)? He admitted that on national tv, so it’s too late to deny. D’oh!

More tears, they’re so yummy! Keep ‘em coming!

Just a reminder, Republicans didn’t want a non political investigation, they utterly refused, then they refused to be involved in the bipartisan investigation. The only investigation they were interested in was of Clinton, even in 2021. Now they whine they aren’t involved in the investigation (Trump now complains they should have been a party to it because he wants people inside who can warn his people of subpoenas and warrants so they can flee and destroy evidence).
No crying about it now, you chose to not be represented well on the panel.

The January 6 show trial is partly about persecuting political opponents. But it’s also about covering up the truth of the 2020 election.

The Day Jesus Returns

Sagemind says...

Well, in the first few seconds, although this all sounds very poetic...

The moon does not "give light" it reflects light, so if there was an eclipse, then this would mean there would be no sun to reflect, so although partially true. these are both the same point.

And I can assure you the stars will not fall from the sky. You can tell this was written before we knew that stars were actually just distant suns. So written out of ignorance.

So this prophesy immediately looses credibility.

After that it just falls to creative writing all based on the natural occurrence of a solar eclipse. That's it. An eclipse. Someone in ancient times used a natural occurrence to evoke fear and sow seeds of of a story because people were uneducated and didn't know what it was.

Today we know what an eclipse is. We're educated, so why do people still fall for these stories. they're obviously written out of ignorance (unknowing) of what is now common knowledge.

@shinyblurry, I respect your personal religion. I endorse your need to believe in something to give you strength where you are weak. But educate yourself. Don't listen to this rhetoric and outdated nonsense. Be smart. I know you're an educated man. Don't hide behind this obvious and poorly written prose.
And definitely, don't sow this stuff to others. It just makes you look ignorant to educated people. You have a brain, and if you believe in a god, then you need to believe you were given a brain to use it. So do some thinking for yourself. You and your family will benefit from the use of a little intelligence.

I'm not saying you can't believe in your God. I'm just saying don't forsake intelligence. And if you can't engage in intelligent conversation, then don't preach using rhetoric created by people who where uneducated.

(EDIT: Sorry to be blunt. Sometimes we need blunt. I'm not trying to be mean. I've been learning that sometimes blunt is the only way to get through to stubborn people. I myself am stubborn - but smart enough to see, when pointed out, my errors in what I may think of this world - we are here to live and to learn, lets engage our brains).

Completely Erase Entire Comments from People You're Ignoring (Sift Talk Post)

poolcleaner says...

@lucky760 @newtboy

Censorship according to the internet: "the practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts."

I see public internet communication as a constantly published work of the human intellect, therefore all digitally published and public communication is media and therefore subject to censorship -- and Videosift now offers a form of individual censorship to its members, not simply the acceptable ignore feature which allows you to check the communication if you so desire.

It bothers me that people would completely block out other people's published work -- and not just their published work but their very existence -- for the same reason that it bothers me that people ban books I don't read at libraries. Mein Kampf is still a book, a poorly written book which glorifies hatred, but still an important part of human literature.

You can choose not to read it, but you can't censor it's existence from reality. Not without burning every copy and then erasing every digital copy. Though perhaps in the future an algorithm will be available which does something similar on an account wide level, visually removing all unfavorable literature and blocking people's facial features, making it so that that person and their communication might as well not exist. But I wouldn't want it to be nullified from my vision while walking through a library, anymore than I would want to nullify a person's existence who offends me; and by extension I believe the freedom to exist and to be acknowledged is an important freedom that we take for granted. You should NOT be able to remove someone from your personal existence. Yes, there are laws in place to do this, but they require criminal abuse to come into effect.

There are greater implications of this type of censorship, that perhaps do not apply directly to the Sift in it's short temporal existence and small community. But it's still an offence to my sense of justice in the realm of communication that such a thing is possible. Even the < ahref="http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2015-04/14/google-algorithm-predicts-trolls-antisocial-behaviour">troll algorithm isn't intended to ban or censor trolls outright, but rather to detect problematic people and find a way to limit the harm they do to a community without removing them from a community.

I think it's one thing if you want to prevent someone from posting on your profile -- which is what should actually be an option (if it isn't already) -- but to silence their voice in video comments is a high form of censorship that I fundamentally stand against. I quite enjoyed some of what Chilngalera had to say; not always and often he offended me -- but not enough to desire to remove him from my existence. I don't think anyone except violent/sexual offenders deserve that. If he vocalizedd violence and sexual threats, why would he still be in the community at all? And if he's banned, why do you need to have an option to block out people's existence?

I was employed for many years to police several massive online roleplaying games, and an ignore feature was a widely accepted form of preventing harassment -- but when it came to erasing the person's avatar or their character's physical body from the game, we always voted against such outright blotting out of a human being. Our rational was and is to this day that if the person cannot communicate to you via explicit words, their presence is an acceptable form of nonverbal communication and a reminder that they are a human being in the community, even if verbally hobbled -- because at that point they have no means of articulating hurtful words.

But to erase that person's presence is a greater act against both the human spirit and human expression as to be a reprehensible act in an of itself. Unless they commit such atrocious behavior in the form of real life physical threats of violence, constant racial/sexual slurs (in a bucket system of soft banning leading up to a permanent ban) or other forms of insidiousness, preserving their humanity is more important to a community than erasing another human being.

Corruption is Legal in America

newtboy says...

Perhaps it's against the constitution (either fed or state) to take away the power of government to determine taxation rates. That would make sense, otherwise the public would obviously vote to limit/remove taxes and the government would go bankrupt. Well written initiatives can work, poorly written one's often get struck down.

Baristan said:

Here in Washington state we have ballot initiatives too.

When the government found out in 1993 it could ignore voter passed initiatives if a judge would declare them illegal or unconstitutional. They repeatedly did so.
I601, I695, I690, I1053, I1185 all voted on and passed only to be overturned by the state. What did they ALL have in common? They would have limited the governments ability to raise taxes.
Don't get me started on the new ballot system designed to keep third parties out.

If there is a way to fix the system the system will patch out that flaw.

4 Rules to Make Star Wars Great Again

jmzero says...

Some of the worst parts of the prequels were in "the frontier", with Anakin making crap out of dirty old parts. The reason the prequels sucked wasn't because of details of the setting or because there wasn't enough arms getting cut off or something. It's because the story was poorly written and the acting was horrible (mostly due to script/direction problems).

What It's Like To Read the Game of Thrones Books

Drachen_Jager says...

@mentality

You can enjoy the series if you like. I'm sure you have your reasons. I merely gave the reasons why I think it's a poorly written series. You can't dispute that, unless you claim I am not allowed to have my own opinions (which from what I can see are supported by many, many ex-George R. R. Martin fans).

I don't, and I am far from alone in my feelings toward the series. Every GoT booster says the same things as you. Problem is, it's a load. I read plenty of atypical fantasy, most of which I really enjoy. I stopped reading GoT when I realized it wasn't fun to read anymore.

Oh, and all the characters you mention either sucked IMO or were inaccessibly stupid, cruel, or annoying.

Pretending that it's good, because it's not enjoyable, is just pretentious by the way.

Prometheus Actually Explained (With Real Answers)

spoco2 says...

I wasn't going to watch this, as I was severely let down by Prometheus and thought this would just annoy me.

1:40 in and yup, they are two fan boys with waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on their hands to try to justify themselves liking the movie.

Man, if you like the movie, that's fine, but if you feel you need to feel superior to everyone else for liking it, because you 'get' it but no-one else does... grow the fuck up.

It was a poorly constructed movie that squandered so much potential. If you enjoy it despite that, cool, but don't try to tell those of us who were really fucking annoyed by it that it was actually a good movie and we didn't 'get it'. We 'GOT' it. It was poorly written. The end.

First Look At Firefly Browncoats Unite Special

Xaielao says...

I was going to reply to him but you guys covered it pretty well. The crazy storylines, the wild writing, characters that were up, then down.. that was the fun about it. Farscape remains one of my all-time fav shows simply because every time I watched a new episode I left it with a massive grin on my face. It was just one of the most fun shows I've ever watched.

>> ^00Scud00:

Farscape could be really over the top sometimes, but then I think that's at least part of what I liked about it, overall I thought the show was pretty well written and I enjoyed the hell out of a lot of the characters. As for why people tend to deify Firefly so much I think it could be compared to just falling in love with someone and then having them promptly die on you, they weren't around long enough to really disappoint you in any big way so your memory of them will be pretty much be eternally perfect.
>> ^Yogi:
>> ^Reefie:
Farscape is definitely a show that has to be watched from beginning to end in order to follow the threads and feel like you know where you are with it. It's a stark contrast to Firefly where episodes are an entire story unto themselves with only a couple of background story threads being maintained at any one point. IMO Farscape's complex story is second only to Babylon 5's epic-ness when considering the story-arc aspect of sci-fi TV shows.
Also helps to be a little bit crazy to fully appreciate Farscape. A love of the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky helps too

That doesn't explain the characters, they were sometimes very poorly written, by any standard.
