Weird, because like I mentioned those tax cuts weren't helping my portfolio until after the election. They must have really kicked in only after the inauguration. But to be fair, Trump did say the market would tank immediately if Joe's the president....apparently the market didn't get the memo.

It is still running under the Trump corporate/billionaire handouts, and still suffering from the Trumpdemic recession, it had been languishing under the same circumstances last year but is now skyrocketing with the nation under adult leadership.

Tax hikes will likely slow things somewhat assuming any pass, time will tell, but your prognostications have proven to be untrustworthy...at least, unlike Trump and Republicans, Biden wants to pay for at least some of his spending. For all the worrywarting about China, you guys sure liked to be deep in debt to them. Yes, Democrats are spending like drunken sailors, it's worrisome, but so were Republicans. At least it's on brand for Democrats, they don't pretend to be fiscally conservative anti socialists while giving away trillions on credit and getting nothing for it.

Joe Biden Mental state

newtboy says...

There was an article a few days ago about Trump floating a plan to let Democratically led cities and states languish with zero federal funds or assistance, not only through Covid but as a, let's call it final solution to the problem of Democratic leadership.

Sounds like he is looking to dissolve the union himself.

I, for one, support Wexit. California, Oregon, and Washington would likely have a bigger, definitely more robust economy than those lesser 47 states (or fewer if there's an Eastxit), and our population of insane right wing nutjobs is a manageable size, and would likely shrink fast.

Can we just do a trial run....we can wait until November 4 to decide if it's still necessary, but we could start ignoring DC now....and stop sending them our money. No need for fighting, just an amicable divorce.

Of course i'm assuming your front page is listed by "Just Published" and not "Hot and Rising"

The True Story of Thanksgiving

Barbar says...

After seeing the colony freeze, go hungry, suffer plague, have it's foreign support removed, get swindled by outsiders, and eventually descend into near-anarchy, Bradford made the following entries:

All this whille no supply was heard of, neither knew they when they might expecte any. So they begane to thinke how they might raise as much torne as they could, and obtaine a beter crope then they had done, that they might not still thus languish in miserie. At length, after much debate of things, the Govr (with the advise of the cheefest amongest them) gave way that they should set corve every man for his owne perticuler, and in that regard trust to them selves; in all other things to goe on in the generall way as before. And so assigned to every family a parcell of land, according to the proportion of their number for that end, only for present use (but made no devission for inheritance), and ranged all boys and youth under some familie. This had very good success; for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more torne was planted then other waise would have bene by any means the Govr or any other could use, and saved him a great deall of trouble, and gave farr better contente. The women now wente willingly into the feild, and tooke their litle-ons with them to set torne, which before would aledg weaknes, and inabilitie; whom to have compelled would have bene thought great tiranie and oppression.

The experience that was had in this commone course and condition, tried sundrie years, and that amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanitie of that conceite of Platos and other.ancients, applauded by some of aater times; -that the taking away of propertie, and bringing in communitie into a comone wealth, would make them happy and $orishing; as if they were wiser then God. For this comunitie (so farr as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much imployment that would have been to their benefite and comforte. For the yong-men that were most able and fitte for labour and servise did repine that they should spend their time and streingth to worke for other mens wives and children, with out any recompence. The strong, or man of parts, had no more in devission of victails and cloaths, then he that was weake and not able to doe a quarter the other could; this was thought injuestice. The aged and graver men to be ranked and equalised in labours, and victails, cloaths, etc., with the meaner and yonger sorte, thought it some indignite and disrespect unto them. And for mens wives to be commanded to doe servise for other men, as dresing their meate, washing their cloaths, etc., they deemd it a kind of slaverie, neither could many husbands well brooke it. Upon the poynte all being to have alike, and all to doe alike, they thought them selves in the like condition, and ove as good as another; and so, if it did not cut of those relations that God hath set amongest men, yet it did at least much diminish and take of the mutuall respects that should be preserved amongst them. And would have bene worse if they had been men of another condition. Let pone objecte this is mens corruption, and nothing to the course it selfe. I answer, seeing all men have this corruption in them, God in his wisdome saw another course fiter for them.

Missing, Presumed Dead - The Search for America's POWs

newtboy says...

I really wish this was MUCH shorter. I'm interested in the subject, but I'm not ready to give it over an hour today.
I do find it terrible that we have, instead of investigating and finding these POW's, often simply listed them as dead and moved on, while they languished in foreign POW camps, sometimes being listed as POW's by the captors, but listed as dead by our government. It's disgusting. Even suspected remains are usually left for non-government organizations to find and recover, it's like the military doesn't want to know, and certainly doesn't want to admit they do a TERRIBLE job of follow up on this issue. They (and we) should be ashamed.

How To Beat Flappy Bird (Best Method)

1; £50-£100 may not be much to you, but there are countries where the population exist on around 40 pence a day, I'm sure they would consider it a lot of money.

2; You saying; " smashing it with a hammer is no different to most of the mindless procrastination they get used for anyway," is rather silly. A Non-sequitur.

3; It doesn't beat "languishing in a drawer." Money - albeit a small amount- can be made from old phones or, if you care, given to someone who can't afford one. That, incidentally, is the major point I was trying -unsuccessfully it seems - to make.

7 million views = about $7000 in youtube ad revenue. Sound investment I'd say!

Also that is actually a pretty old handset, probably only worth £50-100ish now at most.

Now if we're talking about the Congolese workers who mined the ore and the Chinese sweatshop staff that assembled it that's another matter, but then that goes for anyone who owns or has owned a "smartphone". How one chooses to use it irrelevant, smashing it with a hammer is no different to most of the mindless procrastination they get used for anyway.

It's a highly disposable industry and this beats just languishing in a drawer somewhere or being dropped down the toilet etc.

Hi James, To answer your question on your post, and another one you didn't, one probie can't upvote another probie's videos, so unless the wider videosift audience likes brevitytv too your post will languish.

You could discard it and try another video, otherwise after two days it will get moved from unsifted into your Personal Queue and you can post another without discarding the first. It took me several weeks to get my first one to sift, so be patient! If you spend a bit of time watching the videos on the front page you will soon get an idea of the types of video which do well here.

"My Dad Died" Tales Of Mere Existence

w1ndex says...

It gets better ya'll, just remember the good times, I went through a rough spot from 2005 to 2008, then after everything came to an "end", I spent the next few years in a daze, ended up getting anti-depressants that worked, and the past 2 years have been a lot better. Long story short, dad died in April of 05, buried him on my birthday, mom had a stroke a month later, then 3 months later I started taking care of my grandmother with dementia, then after seeing my mom languish in a nursing home for 3 years, in June of 08 my grandmother passed, then my mom passed ten days later.

Buying a couple of lottery tickets is fun. But I see people who clearly don't have much money buying buttloads of tickets, desperately hoping.

I buy lottery tickets myself. Every December. I buy them for my co-workers to scratch off at our annual Christmas dinner. I even buy one for myself, so I can join in the laughter. And I like that some portion of the proceeds goes to schools.

It is the desperate, low income buyers that I ... mourn for.
