Zen Delivers 9 Minutes of Stupidity about Tiny Hydrogen

enoch says...

ugh...watching that was painful.
reminds me of my time running a metaphysical shop with my girlfriend at the time.

she had got it in her head that she wanted to take the shop in a new direction which was in the form of similar "miracle" cures such as this.

the arguments we had were epic!

i just didnt see a need nor a reason.we already had massage therapy, aroma therapy and reiki.we made our own lotions and soaps and had a massive line of candles.why would she want to delve into supplements? that were unproven and possibly dangerous?

well,i lost that argument and after a few months i understood her reasoning=money.
good lord our customers would spend a fortune on these supplements, which made all kinds of claims (all with zippo research to back those claims up),and all unregulated.

and our customers SWORE that these bullshit remedies worked and that they felt better, more energetic and clear-minded.placebo effect on steroids.

of course my girlfriend would never actually admit that profit was her motive.that would go against her own professed morality, but that is what it was:greed.

that was the beginning of the end for our relationship.i was sincerely attempting to help people and her behavior was a disillusionment that my moral compass just could not assimilate.

i am a man of faith, and every aspect of my life is directed by that faith, from politics to personal interactions, and i had lost faith in her.

i find it reprehensible and disgusting to profit off of people when they are the most fragile and vulnerable, and i refuse to engage in that form of vile practice.

Open Letter to Ellen Degeneres: Don't Promote A Psychic

poolcleaner says...

I have an ex which got me involved in this whole "Mystery School" thing and I regret the money dumped into that racket.

Well... no, no, it was a pretty decent experience getting my body felt up by a group of mostly women during "Reiki" sessions and the weird goddess orgies -- not too shabby for an ignorant white boy.

People Depressed That Avatar Isn't Real

rfigley says...

All should listen to James Cameron interviewed by NPR. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123810319

Too much talk here about what and what is not depression. The bigger picture is our ability to become one with our environment. This is not a new concept, in fact it's ancient, but one that has been forgotten and in some cases supressed by those that wish to contol others.
The link above could help people understand that the movie was inspired by what we can be as humans. So the idea is to inspire us to pursue making Earth a Pandora. The beauty of Pandora was inspired by what is real here on earth. The communication between the Na'vi and the environment is also possible by humans. Just a matter of looking within and blocking out the urban clutter we're all bombarded with every day. Read Celestine Prophecy, look into Reiki and various forms of meditation.

The Barnum Effect & Astrology

Raigen says...

I have a good question: Why don't major news networks do stuff like this anymore? There's a plethora of bullshit out there than can be tested and reported on to educate the people.

Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Relexology, Reiki, Crystal Healing, Speaking to the Dead, Foot Detox (I get a flyer for this once a week in my mail slot).

It would mean so much more to the general public if this sort of story were broadcast by a news network, and not Pen & Teller, or even Randi when he had his own shows. They can be considered entertainment, and even though the news, quite frankly, has degraded into entertainment, the majority still see it as where they go to get their facts.

I'd like to paint the rosy picture with you, NetRunner, it's just that from all the utter shit I've experienced dealing with (helping, actually) mostly young females obsessed with New age crap, I can't in good conscience agree with you. Really, the stuff I've seen/heard/fought with could fill volumes of blogs. It usually starts with leaving the traditional religion, maybe moving towards an eastern one and then all the nonsense about "demons" and "angels", and "chakras", and "reiki" (<-complete, utter bollocks if you ask me) comes in.
So from my experience, spirituality in the more developed world nowadays is just as bad as religion, if not worse (talking in general here, not specific cases). Nutshell: spirituality-just as bad as religious dogma

By the way, I have, in fact, never tried any narcotic substances apart from the ones in Absinthe. Anyway, the experiences this path provides aren't ones I'd ever suggest to anyone, however mesmerizing they might be.
