Trump, Cruz and Noem Repeat Their Insane Lies at CPAC

newtboy says...

Disgraced racist and puppy executioner maga Gov Noem has now been banned from all tribal land in S Dakota…almost 15% of the state she governs. MAGA’s finest.

Can you imagine the nonstop screaming rants and calls for her removal from both sides if she was a democrat, but since she’s maga it’s expected and accepted.

Police in America - Where Are The Good Apples?

moonsammy says...

That's un-American as it gets, Bob. Our system of jurisprudence is founded on the concept of innocent until proven guilty, and to the best of my knowledge he had never been found guilty of anything. Even if he had, the police are absolutely NOT intended to function as extrajudicial executioners, and there's no reason this incident needed to end with any sort of weapon being fired.

The fact you revel in this puts the lie to any notion you support the USA as it was conceived by its founders. You give every appearance of wanting it to be something altogether different. Why not start being honest with us?

Tacoma Police Car Plows Through Crowd

newtboy says...

No dummy, his life was never in danger, his windows were not broken, his escape not blocked. He could have easily backed out, evidenced by the fact that HE FUCKING DID BACK UP TO GET UP ENOUGH SPEED TO ATTEMPT TO KILL THE CROWD.

He wasn't trying to stop them, he wasn't trying to escape them, he was trying to kill them. That is the quick path to anarchy, when contempt of cop becomes a capitol offence and the cops are judge, jury, and executioner, that's anarchy, not law enforcement. Duh.

"the police shouldn't take any effort to stop us?"....are you trying to say murder is the only tool police have? So, if a cop sees you Jwalking they should just run you down and leave because you might look scary? Wow, that's some serious right wing insanity. Good thing for you they don't use those tactics against white people or there would be tens of thousands of anti maskers dead and another ten thousand treasonous traitors who tried to overthrow the government by force and murder.

And, I guess you're saying everyone involved in any way with the insurrection should be hunted down and killed. That was certainly a more violent, deadly crowd that actually attacked police, not just stood in front of one. I just think they should spend a decade in prison and lose voting rights for life.

Don't really understand the mentality of some of the comments above. So, if a police officer attempts to put a stop to an illegal activity , the perpetrators of that activity are free to attack the police officer and put his or her life in danger? It seems that you think we're all free to obey the laws we feel like obeying and blow off the rest - and if we do, then the police shouldn't take any effort to stop us? Sounds like a quick path to anarchy.

Mark 38 Machine Gun Hits Small Boat Targets

newtboy says...

You think that's maybe because it's the 17 year old who murdered two people and injured one shooting into a crowd?

Could it be because protesters are fighting for racial equality and an end to police murdering unarmed citizens because they're afraid of black people, and the militias are fighting against that and for the preservation of monuments to racism and racial superiority?

You think it might be because Trump and his cult are condoning and encouraging his vigilante murders as a one boy posse, jury, and executioner, but authorities have universally condemned rioting and arson?

You think it might be because Trump believers have been itching for an excuse to shoot some liberals for years, they haven't been quiet about it either, and it's clear they see the crumbling law and order under Trump as their chance to spark a culture/race/civil war, and are targeting antiracism protesters openly now, repeatedly and nation wide?

What do you think is the reason?

Lazy Nashville Police Fatally Shoot Black Man

newtboy says...

No, they never were taught that because that's murder. Most people don't teach their children how to act in the face of others acting outrageously wrong. Living that way, totally aquessing to any perceived authority under fear of execution, is unthinkable to most Americans.
If you run from the police and get shot in the back, they're in the wrong far more than you, even if you're armed.
Police may only legally use deadly force if their life or others are in imminent danger if they don't. A fleeing suspect doesn't come close unless they're actively pointing their gun at someone.
"Stop or I'll shoot" is not a policy, it's supposed to be an empty threat (or a line in a movie). If you're dumb enough to excuse them following through on that threat, you're part of the problem.
Fleeing arrest is not a capital crime allowing police to become judge, jury, and executioner.

When police misconduct becomes the expected behavior, everyone loses.

So I'm going to ask a serious question here.
Forget about race for a minute.

Are kids not raised anymore to know that if you run from the Police, they will get shot?

That's my question.
It's the number one thing I learned about Police as I grew up - it's ingrained in our culture, "Stop or I'll shoot!"
If you run from the Police, you get shot. EVERYONE knows this. If you're dumb enough to run, just know they are going to shoot at you.
What the mom should be saying is, "Damn I brought him up better than that! Why did he run? --Just never could teach that boy anything..."

This is true if you're Black or White or Green or any other colour. You flee from Police, they will shoot.

Unarmed child shot in the back while running from police

newtboy says...

By that logic, anyone running away should be shot to death because they MIGHT get a gun and worse, and anyone not running should be shot to death because they MIGHT be posturing to fight.

At the time of the shooting, the police didn't know there were guns or bullet holes in the car, which could be old holes. The driver was released, which indicates to me it WASN'T used in a drive by at all, or he would be an accomplice and would have been arrested. You disagree? Those guns might be his legal guns and unfired, there's little actual info.

No, if he was running away unarmed, no rational person would ask why they didn't shoot, that's moronic. Any person can be a potential danger. We don't give cops the right to be judge, jury, and executioner on the street based on their assumptions and guesses as you suggest we should. This is America, not the Philippines.

transmorpher said:

Let him run away to get a bigger gun, to get a hostage, or to harm someone else?

Given that they were in a car with weapons and bullet holes, all of those things were likely to occur. The officer did the right thing to protect the public.

Can you imagine if they didn't shoot, and an innocent bystander got killed? Everyone would be asking why they didn't shoot when they had the chance. It's a tough gig to be a cop.

The kid played with fire and got burnt.

officer Izzo-a message and a plea to the public

newtboy says...

Comply....this is not a solution for the citizens, it's a solution for the officers. People clearly complying have been shot, on camera, repeatedly. Remember "hands up, don't shoot"....that was a slogan because so many people were shot while their hands were up complying. It sure didn't help the caregiver that was prone with hands outstretched begging them to not shoot at the totally harmless mentally challenged man child seated and playing with a truck, but they still did shoot repeatedly, hitting the prone caregiver.

Also, just comply means just allow them to violate your rights, claiming you can recapture your violated rights with no effort by suing...WTF?!? You have a right to know why you're being arrested. You have a right to not answer them when they scream at you. You have a right to carry cash without it being stolen. You have a right to insist on your rights not being violated in the first place. You do not have to allow them to violate you in the hopes that you can prove they did it....prove it against their lies, their fellow officers lies, the prosecutors bias, the judges bias, the evidence disappearing, the harassment from them and other cops, and while fighting the bogus charges that pop up when you file your lawsuit.

The police do act as judge, jury, and executioner many times....that's why people hate cops, not because they are confused about what judges are for. It's because cops so often abuse their authority and/or lie and in the process completely destroy multiple lives (both those they charge and family/bystanders) with impunity, immunity, derision, and zero empathy, then they usually blame their victims for not 'just complying'.
I'm already really beginning to dislike this asshat.

Just let them violate you to death and then sue them, huh? When those 2-3-4 officers all lie, hide evidence, and retaliate against anyone who contradicts their lies (including other cops), that 'remedy' rarely wins in court without incontrovertible evidence proving they all lied, incontrovertible evidence that the cops didn't know about to hide or destroy...and it can't unviolate you or restore lost time, sanity, or life.
...and yes, because they overwhelmingly stand behind those proven to have violated rights and worse, they all get painted with that brush until that changes. The blue wall is responsible for those "good" cops being painted as "bad", not the citizens who's trust has been so often violated. When you stand with a thug and support and protect them, you are one.

No quotas? OK, now this guy has moved from bad advice that benefits only the cops, not the citizen, to ridiculous self serving bold faced lies. It's been clearly, incontrovertibly, repeatedly proven and unashamedly admitted by uncountable officers and their supervisors in hundreds if not thousands of jurisdictions, most cops do have quotas.

BTW, that's EX officer Izzo....thank goodness.

Self Defense?

Buttle says...

@newtboy I have tried to explain that I like living at home, not in prison, so yes, in a situation in which I did not genuinely fear grave bodily harm I would try to avoid a disproportionately violent response. That's what the law requires. It would not matter whether the irritant in question were male, female, or indeterminate.

No one is ever "legally justified in killing" someone else, unless perhaps they are an executioner. Deadly force in self defense is sometimes allowed in order to stop an attack, but must cease as soon as the threat is neutralized.

Racist taunts have been alleged, so have homophobic taunts on the other side. It's hard to say if anyone is telling the truth.

No. Someone became internet WITNESS.
They left the judging, jurying, and executing 100% to the guy's boss. Perhaps they WOULD have become judge, jury, and executioner...but they didn't. There's also absolutely no indication they made any demand of anyone.

No point arguing what might be if it were completely different...things would be completely different.

You sure SOUND angry to me. It's not a straw man to tell you how you appear to others. I note you didn't disagree, you only accused and projected....which is what angry people do. ;-)

EDIT: "Rat him out"? So, they had some obligation to keep his actions secret? You can't 'rat' on someone you aren't in collusion with in some way. You're sounding like the idiotic "don't snitch" insanity of the early 2000's that suggested reporting being the victim of crime was somehow a bad thing, far worse than committing the crime.

He was properly identified by his ex employer, MMC.
No one threatened (or apparently even informed) the 'unsuspecting company', according to the info given they seem to have found it themselves, or maybe been informed by another disgusted employee that recognized him.
No one blackmailed anyone.
You're seemingly just simply making stuff up again to give yourself a reason to be angry. WHY?

Here We Go Again...Rodney King Style Beating In SF

newtboy says...

Screw your 'he deserved what he got' attitude. The police are not judge, jury, and executioner. It's their job to stop criminals and collect evidence...period. If they can't do that job without resorting to ACTUALLY nearly brutally killing compliant people, they shouldn't be cops, they should be cons.

Hitting the cop car is not "nearly killed two officers", they apparently weren't injured enough to require treatment, hardly "nearly killed" in my book.

"What if" arguments are the bastion of people who can't make an argument with the facts, so they feel the need to create new 'facts' to rail against, IMO....but OK, I'll play along...What if this video didn't exist? I suggest that the officers wouldn't even go on paid leave, the action that's been takes thus far...sending them on paid vacation.
How does one get THAT deal, screw up royally and criminally at your job in a way that's likely to cost your 'business' millions in damages, they'll stand by you and pay for vacation for a few months while they 'look into it'. WHAT?!?

If this is the treatment one can expect when criminals DO stop, as he clearly did at the beginning of the video, why on earth would anyone not continue to run like their life depends on it, which it nearly did in this case? That's not at all reasonable.

Screw this bleeding heart bullshit. https://www.rt.com/usa/322241-sf-cops-beating-suspect/

The criminal nearly killed two officers with his STOLEN vehicle while trying to get away. He used a vehicle as a weapon, then sped through neighborhoods, fleeing from police. What if he had killed someone, god forbid, a child? He deserved what he got. I'm tired of idiots that deserve harsh punishment getting sympathy. The police said stop. He didn't.

Santa Ana Cops Behaving Badly

StukaFox says...

Bob, I'd like to.

Seriously. I'd like to see offsetting videos of cops being good citizens and good protectors and defenders. Because deep down, I want to believe cops are exactly that. I don't want to believe The Thin Blue Line is a collection of corrupt thugs who believe it's their right to act as judge, jury and executioner. I want to think cops are doing the right thing for the right reasons and not riding the wave of a power trip.

Show me the videos of cops being helpful, courteous and kind and I'll upvote them. But at the same time, I will not close my eyes to the videos that show cops doing the exact opposite.
